Antminer S7 hating on static IP address

Hi, I apologize if this has been asked elsewhere, but I didn't see it come up in a search.

I have an Antminer S7 that simply refuses to be assigned a static IP. If I put one in just with a netmask, it beeps incessantly like a Burger King kitchen during the Broadway lunch rush. If I add either the NAT IP or the external one as the gateway and a DNS server, it just shuts down and pouts - the hardware version goes to all xxxx and it stops seeing the ASICs. So what's this all about? When set to DHCP it works just fine.

Firmware: S7-20160511-600M-2fan-4320
