This has probably been asked before, but I remember receiving 5 or 10 bitcoins years ago from a website I had joined. Is there any way to recover those or even find out where they are? I have no recollection of where they even came from...

Sorry, based on what you've stated the answer is no.

Please also keep in mind that Bitcoin.com is just one domain name used to promote Bitcoin. Bitcoin.com is not an official website. Just like nobody owns the email technology, nobody owns the Bitcoin network. As such, nobody can speak with authority in the name of Bitcoin.
