The "Shock Doctrine" and the War on Crypto

Mon Oct 05, 2015 3:02 am

Looks like we may enjoy a temporary reprieve from the US Gov's War on Crypto. After receiving massive push-back, they are (according to leaked emails) retreating until they can manufacture capitalize on a crypto related event in the future.

Intelligence community top lawyer, Robert S. Litt:
Although “the legislative environment is very hostile today, it could turn in the event of a terrorist attack or criminal event where strong encryption can be shown to have hindered law enforcement.”

There is value, he said, in “keeping our options open for such a situation.”
No word on whether there was a wink emoji at the end of that sentence.

We, unfortunately, see this type of behavior all too often when those in control cannot force their their agendas upon us in more transparent ways but, instead, prey on well intentioned people's emotions after a traumatic event. Shameful.
