BCT to BCH Wallet

Thu Jun 14, 2018 6:38 pm

Hi. I have only purchased BCH previously. I just purchased BTC from simplex. I created a new wallet and changed the receive address to legacy, which gave an acceptable address for simplex to complete the transaction. I have since discovered that this is still a BCH wallet (my error). The funds are not showing up in any of my wallets. Please help

Just to note for others:

When you're using your Bitcoin Cash (BCH) wallet you are transacting on the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) blockchain, not the Bitcoin Core (BTC) blockchain. It is of the utmost importance to note that these are two entirely separate crytpocurrencies.

The 'Legacy' address in your Bitcoin Cash (BCH) wallet is simply the BCH address shown in a Legacy (BTC) style starting with '1', as not all wallets and exchanges etc. yet support the Cash Address format beginning with 'q' or 'p'. Whether using Legacy style or Cash Address style address, the receiving wallet is still a Bitcoin Cash (BCH) wallet and thus you are transacting on the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) chain.

Bitcoin Core (BTC) must be sent only to a receiving address in your Bitcoin Core (BTC) wallet. If you do not already have one of these in your Bitcoin.com Wallet you can create one by pressing the '+' symbol to the right of 'Bitcoin Core (BTC)' in the Home section of your wallet.

Hello,

I would recommend that you contact Simplex to explain your situation, if you have any proof of purchasing BTC please provide that to them.

If the BCH was sent to a BTC address in your Bitcoin.com wallet, please follow the instructions on the following link to recover the BCH:
