Why is the Bitcoin server down??

Wed Dec 06, 2017 8:01 am

Hi, I just went to purchase some more bitcoin through my bitcoin.com wallet and it says the server is down for maintenance for 24 hours! Not sure how bitcoin is the future when it is such a huge headache eve just trying to buy some

Can someone please help? Is this a supply issue that will likely take longer than 24 hrs to resolve or is this a technical issue that will definitely be resolved in 24 hours?

Hello,

The good news is that with bitcoin you don't have to reply on any 3rd party, if you are trying to buy some bitcoins from one company and that particular company happens to be down for maintenance or if you can't wait you can always choose to purchase from somewhere else.

You can buy and sell bitcoins through a number of different methods at one of the many Bitcoin exchanges listed on our exchanges page: https://www.bitcoin.com/buy-bitcoin

This is also the same with the bitcoin.com wallet itself. Because you control the private keys, if the Bitcoin.com wallet servers happened to be down (very unlikely) then you could just import all your funds into another wallet provider until the matter is fixed.

When you control your bitcoins you have full control of your funds. Bitcoin.com has no access to your wallet and no control over any funds in your wallet ;)

Hello, your answer is not helpful to me - I spent FOUR HOURS last week going through your bitcoin partner , Simplex's, registration process in order to buy some Bitcoin. Are you now telling me that I wasted my time doing that and now I have to go through all that again with another website/exchange?

Can someone please just answer my original question? Is your Bitcoin buying service down potentially for longer than 24 hours? At the moment it says that your purchasing server is down 'for maintenance' and to come back in 24 hours. Can you please let me know what is going on

Sorry, no i am not saying that you have wasted your time. I was just suggesting other services you could use if not happy with Simplex.

Simplex often expiernces very high traffic levels when the price is going up as fast as it is and it can sometimes take them longer than usual to process orders.

If you have any questions relating to a purchase or service with Simplex then you must contact their support team: support@simplex.com
