No mobile Apple device supports OTG. USB-OTG is the standard that Android uses to allow a device to connect to an external device, like a USB drive, or in your case, the Nano S.
Apple devices only support a basic USB connection, when plugging into a PC they are seen as the external device. Your PC doesn't shop up on your phone, your phone shows up on the PC. The thing is with the ledger or any other USB drive, they aren't made to be "host devices", meaning an incompatibility.
Apple hasn't bothered to implement OTG, despite the standard being out for years.
