Question re: Blockchian.info transaction

Fri Aug 25, 2017 11:09 am

Hello all,

I have a Blockchain.info account. I gave my wallet identifier/login number to someone to deposit BTC (I now know to use a "Public key" instead), and the BTC was was successfully transferred but not to my account.

Can anyone shine light on what happened and if this BTC is recoverable? I'm guessing that the BTC was accidentally sent to a different account?

Thanks,
Newb

Giving your "wallet identifier/login number to someone" is giving them direct access to your wallet.
If the person you gave that info to is not reputable, you have lost your btc.
Highly unlikely anyone has "accidentally" sent to wrong account, just the account of their chosing - their own account.
i assume they have emptied your wallet? Please name and shame if poss.

Now that you have given this person your private access info, DO NOT REUSE THIS WALLET. Contact blockchain.info.
