How to re-activate my bitcoin

Thu Mar 30, 2017 11:32 am

I dabbled in bitcoin a couple of years ago, and purchased 1/10 of a coin. A while later my computer broke and I replaced it without thinking to re-install my wallet app. I'm not even sure which program it was to be honest. I had made a note earlier though of a password and a long ~34 digit code of letters and numbers, which I think identify my bitcoin. Is there a way to transfer my old 1/10 bitcoin to a wallet or is it just lost?

Sorry for the stupid question but I couldn't find an answer to this one on google etc.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

As long as your old address was not hacked your bitcoins will still be at the same address.
I am not sure what the 34 letters and numbers you have are but at least 12 of them should be your wallet "seed" and this is what you need to recover your bitcoins.
I am quite sure that you will need to remember what wallet you were using though,

Any other the above ring a bell?

Thanks for the answer, I think it may have been multibit, but it seems to have changed from what I remember, beginning to think I've lost my 1/10 bitcoin :(

Unfortunately, the 34 characters is just your Bitcoin address. And the password is likely your wallet unlock password.

Without the recovery seed or wallet file, yes, your coin is most likely gone.
