Used a BCH QR Code at a BTC Machine

Thu Dec 27, 2018 8:01 pm

Hello

About an hour ago, I went to the shop to purchase £70 of Bitcoin.
I have the bitcoin.com wallet and instead of using the BTC wallet address, I used the BCH code.
Will my money still show up or what should I do and how long should I wait?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you,

shabbamuffin

Hello
Thank you for your answer :)
I have tried to do that multiple times on both of the wallets, I also tried to type in my wallet address into Blockchain and it showed me £0.
Still not working.
Thank you

You're welcome :)

Where did you purchase the bitcoins from?

For example, the service on https://buy.bitcoin.com is provided by Simplex.com. If you have not received your Bitcoin Core (BTC) or Bitcoin Cash (BCH) purchase from them, or have any other issues regarding that service, please contact the Simplex support team at the email address below:

partners.support@simplex.com

Please note that during times of high traffic such as when there is a relatively large increase in Bitcoin's value your order with Simplex may take longer for them to fulfill. Unfortunately there is nothing that Bitcoin.com can do about this, so please be patient while Simplex process, fulfill and send your bitcoins to the address you have provided them.

Please let us know if Simplex have confirmed to you that your order has indeed been sent but you still cannot see the funds in your wallet.

If you did not purchase bitcoins from Simplex via buy.bitcoin.com, please let us know where you made the purchase from.

I used the BCH QR to scan the address and entered my cash into the ATM machine

You're welcome.

Please contact the owner or operator of the BTC machine.

Please let them know that you believe you haven't received your bitcoins.

Please also beware of anyone who contacts you in private message on this forum with promises, or offers, to help you recover your coins.

I have checked and no transaction is visible.

Will the shop owner have these details?
What will the owner of the machine be able to do? The only proof of me putting this money in would probably be found on the shop's CCTV.

I appreciate your help

Bella

No problem, you're welcome.

Yes, the owner or operator of the machine should be able to help. They are probably the only ones who can help. Bitcoin is a permissionless network (no middleman, no permission is need to send or receive). It appears (based on everything you've stated) that bitcoins have not yet been sent to your address. Please provide your bitcoin address (and any other relevant info) to the owner or operator of the machine and they should be able to ascertain why the bitcoins were not sent yet.

Bitcoin itself isn't a company, just like “gold” isn't a company - this means that there isn't any official website that speaks for Bitcoin, just like there isn't an official website representing gold.

Bitcoin.com is simply an informative site about Bitcoin and we also offer our own services to Bitcoin users. We do our best to put lots of information online for people. Bitcoin.com doesn't control Bitcoin in any way.
