I think it's a great idea! I'll donate to help support the pool.

Donate hashing power, coding, or something else?

Sorry, to clarify I can donate bitcoin and/or coding help. I don't have any hashing power unfortunately.

It would very much depend on the type of pool - are you thinking about a p2pool node? That would be possible.

Setting up a brand new pool would mean very unpredictable payouts.

I have some KnC hardware, but much of it is starting to fail. No point in fixing it anymore. I also do not know how long I will keep them turned on, there is just so much hashpower that has been added - I am monitoring it all the time but there is a time when I must call it a day (and admit I had a lot of fun, and learned a lot, by being involved in mining).

(If there is anyone in Iceland who is willing to fix some machines for an affordable rate - let me know. It is not worth flying over, and it is not worth tech support at the DC fixing things).

A mining pool is a good idea. I would commit to buying ~7500 watts of hashpower to put towards a pool if you were running it.

Would it be asking too much to take it a step further? If you do this, would you organize an ASIC supply store for your users as well? I am not savvy enough to know which of these ASIC rigs to trust, but I would trust your judgement.

You need large mining pools, not solely used for mining power - but for leverage.
