/r/bitcoin mod censoring discussion

Someone blew the whistle on a /r/bitcoin mod censoring discussion.... pasted below

Are lies and misinformation, by themselves, without trolling, now against the rules here? If so, when did that happen? If Mike Hearn is trolling, he should be banned. However, I don't see anyone saying that. Was his post on topic? By all normal measures, it seems so. Was it promoting an altcoin? Only in one place: the conclusion. If this was a post that mentioned any other altcoin in the context of bitcoin's development process, it would have been allowed. So, how was this justified? This looks like someone moderating with their opinion, which I thought we weren't doing.

It seems clear to me that the intent of his article is to trick people into using/supporting XT, and that all of the misinformation in the rest of his article (which on its own would probably be allowable, >and which has been allowed in his recent comments to /r/Bitcoin) is directed at that purpose.

There is a retort article https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/commen ... f_someone/ Seems unbalanced to permit one side and not the other.

Agreed. Looks like Frankenmint pulled it.

Was it promoting an altcoin? Only in one place: the conclusion. If this was a post that mentioned any other altcoin in the context of bitcoin's development process, it would have been allowed. If Mike had just wanted to slander his peers, that would have been fine. But the determining factor for removal was his conclusion plugging XT as if it were a solution. I'm sure the same call would have been made if the article concluded with a Litecoin or Monero plug too.

Seems unbalanced to permit one side and not the other. And here we go. In my mind, this is proof that the first post should have been allowed. Unless everyone, in the back of their mind, is totally chill with removing these replies?

I think we know what would have happened. Mike's article would have been voted to the top of the sub via brigading or manipulation, while this rebuttal would have been buried. It's not as if >reasonable discourse would have ensued. XT fans would have swarmed the thread and buried any dissenting views they encountered, no matter how factual or reasonable they may have been.
