Forced inter-post delays is bad for marketplace bumps

Sun Jan 17, 2016 9:03 am

Hi,

I'm not a spammer, I'm trying to sell something for bitcoin here. So I have 3 threads running which I bump daily, but I'm about to leave this forum. The reason is the inter-post delay between each post, I understand the moderators that they must keep the forum clean and must implement something against spamming. But I need much more time here for my daily business than on bitcointalk, that's ridiculous.

Please implement smarter means against spammers or you will loose the few sellers in the marketplace, thanks!

Kind regards

Could you please elaborate a little more on what it is that you need to continue selling here, is it the time lock between how many time you can post in a certain period?
Kind regards

Exactly, it's the one minute time lock. Fortunately I only have 3 threads to bump, so that sums up to a 2 minutes delay, but I don't think a heavy seller with more threads would take the hassle to sell something here. Would be good if you could change that somehow.

Any news about this? I'm still hammering on the submit button, lots of wasted traffic.

Let me look into this now for you. I was unaware of any posting time locks.

Sometimes i have to lock and move many post to the trashcan board because some new member has quickly spammed the forum within minutes with about 20posts or more so strange to hear you have it.
It was talked about so let me see what happened.

Posting time locks still occur.

There is a time limit between posts globally on the forum. It's set to 60 seconds.

I am looking to have this reduced as a members rank progresses, since we are all volunteers here these things can take some time and i thank you for your continued patience and persistence on this matter.

Bumps should be limited. New sellers deserve exposure too.

Still hammering on the submit button to bump my sell threads here!
And btw never sold anything here, but a lot on bitcointalk. To have this cumbersome workflow and no sales is a bad combo. I'm thinking about leaving, but I like the idea to have an alternative to btt. :(

Im sorry to hear about your lack of sales here but this would be due to the low traffic we are experiencing.

You really only need to bump a thread if it does not show up on page 1 of the board you have posted in.
Since we are not getting a lot of new threads created in marketplace your threads should remain on page 1 for weeks at a time.

There is some good features almost ready to roll out and this should bring a new following.

hey dsattler,

this forum and bitcoin.com are still very new platforms - and bitcoin is a niche too. so you are dealing with 2 niches and try to sell a double niche product. i guess it will take a bit longer until more people will join the bitcoin ecosystem and bitcoin.com. but good to be on board today if you ask me! :D

I hope you guys don't accuse me of gravedigging; since I have a good solution for this.

Some forums have a "bump" button/option that has a limit of 2-6hrs per bump. This removes the need for a person to reply "bump" on his/her post for it to be bumped.

You should now be able to bump your own threads without posting.
Just select the small "spanner/wrench" icon at the bottom of your thread and hit "bump topic"
