Re: Why is bitcoin.com "scammy" ?

However a bot will NEVER beat a really good player in most poker variants.

You've got to be joking. You think bots with the ability to try millions of different scenarios combined with neural nets and heuristics can't beat humans? That is what they thought about Chess and Go. Both fell to the ...

Re: Greg Maxwell's economic ignorance on full display

Ver, how you study economics so much but you don't understand Gresham's law?

I don't think Gresham's law applies much to bitcoin...

We'll the general principal that people will hold on to Good money (not spend it) when they can, and spend their Bad money definitely applies to Bitcoiners and to ...

Re: Why is bitcoin.com "scammy" ?

Replace "Silk Road" with "Bitcoin.com", and you will get the idea of what we are about here.

But Silk Road was quite clearly an online market place for "stuff". It is clear from the outset to a casual user what it's intention is, and to anyone familiar with these things it is fairly obvious that ...

Not to take sides in this debate but realistically speaking all of the points you raised are irrelevant.

LOL, funny. Everything you said sucks, but I'm not taking sides :)

Anyway I had a long reply I tried to post but this site apparently has a timed session and can't seem to remember me ...

Re: Why is bitcoin.com "scammy" ?

You don't seem to have read the FAQ , or even taken a cursory glance at the current casino.
If you had, you would know the answers to your questions:

1. You are only playing against the house. There are currently no games that allow players to play against each other.
2. Irrelevant in light of ...

Re: Why is bitcoin.com "scammy" ?

Two quote your own words with some very minor changes:

"The point is humans are "scammy" in the sense that they are likely to be connected to scams or at least in the past were linked to numerous scams. It does not mean there is actually a scam taking place at the moment."

I think that should ...

Re: Why is bitcoin.com "scammy" ?

You have presented no evidence of any type of scam.

Stop trying to control Roger by what he can and can't do.

What the heck????, I just said that I have no evidence of any actual scam in my last post. Nor am I trying to control Roger in any way. Rather I am trying to help him. HELP HIM.

There ...

Re: Why is bitcoin.com "scammy" ?

Are you accusing the Bitcoin.com casino of being a scam?
If so, please present your evidence.

No not at all, please read my post again and my previous posts on this thread. I have no evidence of any scam with the Bitcoin.com casino.

However, Online gambling has a few issues, like, as a player ...

Re: Why is bitcoin.com "scammy" ?

Now do you really wonder why people call it scammy? =====> https://casino.bitcoin.com/

Look gambling has its place I guess, it can be fun. But online gambling has had its share of problems (people running bots or actively adjusting outcomes from the inside, etc.). Having bitcoin.com be a place ...

Re: Why is bitcoin.com "scammy" ?

Yes and on #bitcoin IRC that shows this messed up message - one of mods if gmaxwell, the core dev

Right to get the "scammy" message removed you have to get in touch with whoever controls that freenode irc channel. Probably theymos.

But more to the point, and what I've been trying to point out ...

Re: Why is bitcoin.com "scammy" ?

I saw a lot of text, but no scam accusation.
Where is the scam accusation?

Don't you think it is "scummy" to call something "scammy" when there is no scam?

While I agree that "scammy" is going too far, as I noted on r/btc here I think there are some issues with bitcoin.com as it currently ...

Re: I am Thomas Voegtlin, creator of Electrum. Ask me Anything!

Why are there not Electrum apps on Google Play for Android and on the App Store for iOS?

Is this because you are concerned that those binaries could be altered without your knowledge? Or is it more of a time/cost to develop problem?

Re: Panel with Nick Szabo: How you came into bitcoin?

Szabo lost all of my respect since his fear-mongering tweets (exploding rocket) about the blocksize limit debate and his apparent support for Blockstream/core/censorship.

Provide some links to these fear-mongering tweets please, and the apparent support for censorship. This guy may very well be ...

Re: I'm Andreas M. Antonopoulos, author of "Mastering Bitcoin", public speaker, podcaster and pundit. Ask Me Almost Anyt

Do you think spending bitcoins on goods/services is important (as opposed to buy & hold / speculation) and what can we do to increase that spending in the community?

Is it important for brick/mortar merchants to accept bitcoin, or should we leave them be and focus on online only?

Re: Andreas Antonopoulos Argues in Favor of Larger Block Sizes

He discusses block size at around https://youtu.be/t_V4q-Vrasc?t=48m51s

TL;DR while some claim that larger block size may lead to increased centralization, there is another side to the argument, that says that miners in other parts of the world may gain an advantage over the already centralized ...
