The war on miners in bitcoin.

http://www.wallstreettechnologist.com/2016/10/13/mining-centralization-the-war-on-bitcoins-mining-industry/ We must help dispel the myth that mining is 'broken' in bitcoin. It seems to be broken only to those miners who aren't profitable anymore, and the devs that they manage to lobby to their caus...

Milan Scaling was 'meh'

http://www.wallstreettechnologist.com/2016/10/10/scalingbitcoin-milan-not-so-much-about-scaling-bitcoin/ Milan was an interesting experience, though compared to HK ScalingBitcoin a year ago, the feeling was definitely less enthusiastic and more "hmm..." We have come a full year after the world reac...

Re: Is Money the same as Currency?

Indeed money and currency are two different things. Currency is a method of payment, and under the term "money" we can mean everything that has a value. Currency also has legal connotations. For instance, there are legal laws surrounding the guarantee that currency is fungible. Money does not have ...

Re: Lightning Network. Pros and Cons

Well, as Rusty Russell said himself, he doesn't forsee Lightning being used practically for any payments of more than 0.042BTC presently. So it is still very very much in just the bootstrapping stage (even if it delivers on the routing problem and technical issues). This indicates to me that we shou...

Follow the Stream (of money)

Wow what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive!

Kind of makes me think that all Bitcoin core protocol development should be funded only by donations, anonymous or overt.

Re: My Dinner with Adam Back

Exactly, bitcoin has been working without touching the limit for 7 years and so far has achieved great adoption and also value appreciation. By artificially limiting the transaction capacity, thus create a large impact to the existing time and market tested model is extremely risky, it will prevent...

Re: My Dinner with Adam Back

Fiat is democratic currency; do we want to turn bitcoin into a democratic currency as well? Please be specific as to how this decision making mechanism is supposed to work? Fiat is not democratic currency, I first saw this statement from the Adam Back's slides, I immediately understand that he has ...

Re: My Dinner with Adam Back

Another major flaw in your line of reasoning is that simply keep raising the blocksize limit to drop the price of txs from 5-8 pennies to 0-4 pennies per tx will get extremely rapid adoption. . I don't think that is the assumption at all. People don't care so much about the price per txn, anything ...

Re: I am Paul Snow, the architect of Factom and chair of the Texas Bitcoin Conference. Ask me Anything!

I'm sorry think you actually explained this, but I couldn't really understand clearly... Why can the protocol just pay the Federated servers in Entry Credits which they can sell again? I get that they cannot sell more than they have, that is fair, but I don't see how the presence of Factoids mitigat...

Re: Im Juan Garavaglia, Rootstock.io Ask Me Anything!

Hello, I believe that having a smart contracts layer that is backed by the value of Bitcoin can be very interesting indeed. I will certainly avoid many of the bootstrapping issues that other projects like Ethereum are experiencing. I'd like to hear more about what practical business cases there will...

Re: Bitcoin.com hosting the largest Bitcoin AMA event ever!

The blatant censorship of open dialog in bitcoin space must be stopped. Bitcoin is about monetary freedom, and that must have a basis in freedom of speech.

I support Bitcoin.com in this endeavour to take back the dialog to open forums.

Is Money the same as Currency?

It's a simple question. But it is one that 95% of people will answer wrong. Don't feel bad. I would have as well if you were to have asked me 10 years ago. Ans: They are not the same thing. Those in power would like you to think of them as the same thing. In fact, we have been taught since we were c...
