I would really like to be able to run it from Tails. (Electrum I can just run from source without problems, but it doesn't work for the bitcoin.com wallet).

Create a BTC wallet and use (restore from) the backup seed from your BCH wallet.

Minor issue: app thinks the bitcoin core wallet is not backed up (even though you already did the process once)

So after creating the new Bitcoin.com wallet you'll go through the process of writing down the seed and verifying it. Then you'll start using it and when you click the Bitcoin Core wallets -> personal wallet you'll still get the message saying this wallet is not backed up.

How do you open the wallet in Tails OS? Can you run it from source like Electrum?

I've been able to use electrum & electron-cash in Tails OS by just running it from source and typing "./electrum" (in case of electrum) in the console window.

Can I open the bitcoin.com wallet the same way in Tails? What's the command name? Just "./Bitcoin" ? I only use linux / tails for crypto so ...
