How did you get your first bitcoins? Was it cheap?

I bought my first coins on Mt. Gox - not nearly as cheap as many friends or as cheap as I would have liked.

At the time, Gox was a pain to deal with - I think it tool 9 days and I had to go through Dwalla or something.
