I have seen theymos frequently denying ads in his auctions too. But yeh, sometimes you might accept an ad that ends up being a scam. Unfortunate truth.

I think this is hilarious since bitcoin.org bashed bitcoin.com for having ads on the page.
I highly disagree. There is a huge difference between recommending 1 wallet/exchange to new users based on payments and showing a transparent (with disclaimer) advertisement in the footer. Running ads to ...

I agree it's not actually "scammy" (not sure what the definition of that even is?) But "one option" that is based on how much money is paid, is at least "not trustworthy" and at worst "sketchy". I am personally not on IRC and don't know any of the operators there, but I can somewhat agree with that statement.

The biggest problem I have on a "scammy" level are the pages:

(and debit card page)

Personally I would never refer any new bitcoin ...

Bitcointalk/theymos always put a high priority on security/privacy and even has security bounties which are almost equivalent of PP/FB. I think that is important considering a lot of (prominent) bitcoin users hang out on a place like such forum.
