Re: I'm Zooko Wilcox, CEO of the Zcash Company. Ask me anything!

I notice that ZCash has some funding from DARPA and the AFRL. Could you comment on what their motivation might be to do that? What is it about ZCash that appeals to those organisations?

No idea what you're talking about! All of our current investors are listed here:

Vaultoro Clients Secured From Bail-ins like we saw at bitfinex and banks

From the Vaultoro Blog

So by now most in the bitcoin community know that one of the largest bitcoin exchanges (Bitfinex) was hacked and the thieves got away with around 120 thousand bitcoin!

As if losing around 71 million dollars of customer funds was not bad enough, Bitfinex then dealt with the ...

Faucet idea, spread education about Voluntaryism

Hi everyone,

I have an idea for a way to spread the understanding of the philosophies of Voluntaryism while by incentivising exposure.

I think it would be a great faucet here on bitcoin.com.

A faucet where people view a youtube video explaining how Voluntaryism works both in practice and in ...

Gold being a good and not a currency is the same reason you don't need to hand over KYC info if you buy a new TV or couc

From our blog post.
http://blog.vaultoro.com/2016/04/23/gold-price-round-up-apr-23/

We at Vaultoro notice a lot more merchants (especially in the developing world) that accept bitcoin, hedging that volatility risk in gold instead of fiat. This is probably because fiat exchanges or bitcoin payment ...

I've been using Signal by Open Whisper Systems for a while now and apparently WhatsApp is using their system, so I think it's legit.

If it wasn't, Open Whisper Systems would have something to say about that methinks.

Re: So what does everyone think of Whats app's Instant billion people onboarded into encryption?

Yeah interesting,

I tend to use the word privacy instead of anonymity or secrecy because people tend to be a lot more positive about that world. If I say secrecy or anonymous communication people freak out and say oooh oh that sounds dodgy.

Wow! Thanks for collating all these. I have never heard of most of them. Far out there is so much cool stuff happening in the bitcoin world now.

So many cool mainstream consumer-facing projects are starting up. Give it one year and bitcoin will finally be almost grandma friendly.

It has been hard to get normal people using encryption and now suddenly a billion people have been on-boarded just like that.

It seems to good to be true that facebooks what's app, turned on end to end encryption for all chat and audio!

Re: Bitcoinist - Different Ways to Raise Funding For A Bitcoin Startup

Equity crowd funding is great if you have small tshirt company or a shop idea but if your idea is big then I would think twice because it might put a huge stumbling block in front of your company when going for a bigger A round dow the track.

Big VC's might want the due diligence paperwork of ...

This is very cool. Yeah the fees are aggravating.

Well if people have to wait for the end of the day to be included in a sendmany TX, then they might as well wait for the small fee to confirm on the network wich would take about the same amount of time (depending on how close to payout time it is ...
