Re: WannaCry Ransomware Extorts 39 Payments Worth 6.49 BTC – TODAY

Probably true - change it over to alt coins like 10 times and through a few gambling sites - probably gonna make it super difficult for the authorities :o

Theoretically yes... 1) If they ever want to transfer to an exchange, for example, and then change back into fiat - bang! Caught! With all the KYC legislation on exchanges I'm sure the authorities will track them there. 2) If purchasing an item online using BTC, I'm sure the authorities will be able...

Re: Here's my entirely outlandish Bitcoin price prediction.

Just speculation, but I guess it's gonna drop a bit right after bip148 and then shoot up to R5k by the end of the year 8-)

Re: bitWallet - iOS

Heard a lot of good things on breadwallet too!! Have downloaded it but never really used it to transact as yet. Just first impressions, but it looks quite, well, "simple". I guess I better have a proper look to compare...

bitWallet - iOS

Just wondering if anyone else here is using bitWallet? I've tried some wallets on my iPhone but keep coming back to bitWallet. It is slightly more "manual" than say most other wallets as in that you can create batches of new address and decide which addresses to use when, but it certainly does make ...

Re: What happens if I loose my Bitcoins?

Yip, you loose your private key(s) and the money is literally lost forever.

Most apps allow you to save a 12 word "phrase" which is used to recover your keys. Loose this and the Bitcoin is also gone...

I personally like BitWallet on iOS (not for total beginners though) otherwise BitPay ;)

Re: The best list of wallet providers

I personally use bitWallet on iOS - not a total "beginner" wallet but great for the more advanced user. Also love the fact that you can use Luno to convert to ZAR :)
Also use paper wallets (with BIP38 encrypted private keys) for long-term storage :)

I saw online somewhere that there was a shop in the Cape somewhere accepting Bitcoin. Can't think of it off the top of my head now though - would have to go find it again...
