Re: Blockchain Technology - What can it do? What makes it so Technically Advanced?

The fact that the database or information stored in the block chain is immutable and shared globally is one of the reasons why this is so revolutionary. The world has never had a ledger that couldn't be tampered with under any circumstance.

There's no going back and cooking the books with Bitcoin ...

Re: Did you spend some Coins on BitcoinBlackFriday today?

I used purse.io to buy a giant teddy bear for my nephew. It's 47" tall, hope it's as big as they claim.

Re: So just how insecure is a brainwallet?

It uses the scrypt key derivation function to generate the keys, which is a memory and time-intensive process.

This to me this is the largest upgrade to traditional brain wallet services. The only reason a password such as, "I love eating popcorn in the sun" isn't secure, is due to the fact that ...

Re: So just how insecure is a brainwallet?

I checked out your creation at brainwallet.io and I do like what I see, good job. Should I be concerned that this is proprietary, or is the software open source and can be easily saved or recreated?

Brainwallets should almost have a meeting where all of them are upgraded to something similar to ...

Re: So just how insecure is a brainwallet?

I've often wondered why an approach towards brain wallets wouldn't mimic what they did with Bip 38 when it comes to difficulty. Why couldn't an algorithm be made that takes a full second to decrypt on the fastest of home machines today, and lets say 10 seconds on the average laptop. If your ...

Re: Rollercoaster Crash: Top 4 Reasons For Deflation - Hidden Secrets Of Money 6 (Mike Maloney)

Great video. Thanks for the link. A lot of us are very pessimistic about the economy over the next few years, but I seriously hope that everything holds together for a little longer. Bitcoin isn't quite ready for the deflationary/inflationary crashes coming, so if the powers that be can give us a ...

Re: Nodes should have scheduling and bandwidth limits built in

I just tried to post this to r/bitcoin and they blocked it.

Five minutes earlier they actually allowed a topic called "The blocksize debate and why Theymos might be right"

What is happening to this community? I feel sad about this.

Nodes should have scheduling and bandwidth limits built in

The issue of larger block size and decentralization could easily be overcome by simply allowing full node operators to have better control over their uptime and bandwidth usage or number of peers.

The torrent network has had this feature for years, allowing everyone to participate to whatever ...

Re: Confidential transactions(CT) for monero

I really hope the Monero team can pull this off. To hedge my bets with Bitcoin I purchase about 10 other promising alt coins on a regular basis. Monero is near the top of that list, and it's great to see real innovation happening here.

Re: Mike Hearn: On Block Sizes

I really hope this forum picks up, so we can all have a place where we can all share our points of view without censorship. We hear people in this community talk about the best way to fight the system, "to bypass it, or ignore it." Perhaps we should take our own advice when it comes to this ...
