$10k/bitcoin means that it requires 1/10th the number of bytes to represent the same amount of value as compared to $1k/bitcoin. The scaling is done with price.

It's entirely correct. As the subsidy goes down, the miners must recoup their costs more and more from the fees. And as I said above on my edit -- there is a hard limit on the block size, but there is no hard limit on the price of each BTC. As the price of a BTC goes ...
