Wrote a paper on why open source is happening.

Of course bitcoin is important as the big tech out of the gate after Linux. If you measure by critical mass, or literately by complexity.

The complexity horizon.

Re: Mike Hearn: A Bitcoin Believer’s Crisis of Faith

"For a community that has always worried about the block chain being taken over by an oppressive government, it is a rich irony."

This is neither irony or coincidence. Blocking blockchain growth via censorship and coercion is how enemies of bitcoin have chosen to attack it. Lots of loosers will ...

Re: Bitcoin 'founder' Craig Wright's home raided by police

To me this actually feels right. If it really is him he will assemble a legal team, and once he's paid all his bills for them he'll come out.

Weird things could happen with a legal defense assuming he's not offered asylum someplace and skips it ...

Here is the link to video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5OjMdqkiiI

From the video 'How do we know the best ideas rise to the top.'

The right to fork. It's a human right. It's a right because any group of sufficient size has defectors (to use Bruce Schneier speak.) With enough time and a ...

Re: Great video: annonomity vs decentralization - solution: every block is a different algorithm.

Oh and and the next block algorithm type should be semi random (seeded by the last block) it more closely simulates real mining which was Satoshi's stated goal. You never know exactly what the next square meter of rock contains until you remove the one before it. That motivates small miners to stay ...

Re: Great video: annonomity vs decentralization - solution: every block is a different algorithm.

"but how many algos would you need to archieve that?

is it impossible for a hardware manufacture to build rigs for this? i guess you can always build special minings rigs and end up the same way we have today."

A handful (sha, scrypt, etc) should make it more difficult to optimize via hardware. IMO ...

Re: Mike Hearn: On Block Sizes

Thanks for posting this. Good information. :D

Rip's comment at the end is excellent and worth a read too.

Totalitarianism is certainly the word. Not certain what's really going on in people's heads but open source needed none of this panicky censorship before and Linux runs the earth.

Propaganda ...

Re: Mike Hearn on BitcoinXT

Thanks that was excellent.

As an old vet of open source, bitcoin will survive a fork just fine IMO.

Two words. Hans Reiser. Linux thrived anyway. So will bitcoin.
