Re: Bitcoin Classic proposed changes to wallets.bitcoin.com

I don't think this is a good idea. Bitcoin.com should strive towards being impartial. Making Classic the featured wallet is an acceptable bias. Claiming Classic is best for the bitcoin network is a step too far. Just because bitcoin.org and /r/bitcoin use these tactics, doesn't mean bitcoin.com sho...

Re: I'm Zooko Wilcox, CEO of the Zcash Company. Ask me anything!

I've wondered this for a long time: You were in the cypherpunks group, involved in digicash, mojo nation (we tallked then btw), then involved with other stuff. Then the digital cash dream appeared in 2009. Why weren't you entranced and immediately sucked in? :) Very few of the original cypherpunks s...

can i find also a roadmap for classic somewhere?
I believe the current roadmap has just one milestone; to force a 2MB hard fork to break core dev control.
After that, the roadmap is whatever the voters want on consider.it.

Re: I like big blocks

Classic is the vision I 'brought' into years ago, its the one I've worked hard to promote, So many of us early adopters, including myself, feel this way. What you (we) really want is an increase in max tx rate, and even that isn't necessary immediately. Segwit gives that almost as soon as a rushed,...

Re: Block size poll: Which do you prefer?

Although 2 MB should be enough for a while, I would prefer the flexible one instead so people don't have to go through this drama again later. Any cons out of having the flexible cap? Segwit offers almost the same as 2MB in almost the same time frame as the rushed hard fork, and certainly much soon...

Same here as well. It's a real shame there have been so many great solutions that have been presented to the community but yet nothing is being considered. I'm overall just in astonishment, which I think many feel the same way (and why others are working on Classic, Unlimited, etc). I'm hopeful sti...

Re: Opening all ports on my bitcoind server

Like most (I think) home computers these days, mine doesn't have an internet facing network connection. There's a nasty ISP NAT, so no incoming connections work. My connection is the same, there is no way that I am able to have incoming ports. A traceroute shows that, once the packet leaves my netw...

Re: Opening all ports on my bitcoind server

Have you guys had any luck running a node through a VPN? I'm curious how that looks. I have not tried this yet, but I am sure that it would work. I have used VPN services in the past, and (if using windows) all you do is install a piece of software that connects to the VPN. This creates a virtual n...

Re: Opening all ports on my bitcoind server

Good idea. These days I think most ISP's have been forced to use deep packet inspection (to make p2p at least hard for people thus saving lots of bandwidth), so your idea works ... until they decide to look for bitcoin protocol packets. We really need encrypted communications. Tor is always an opti...

I don't see why this letter seems strange to anyone. I find it a bit strange it hasn't surfaced before tho. Publication of something like this at the time he froze himself would have been logical to spur the research. His method of proving he has the coins is a bit weird too; why actually spend them...

Re: Is there anyone solving the problem of inability to collect recurring payments using Bitcoin?

When you sign up, you prolly give an email address (even if it's a onetime, throwaway thing), so the email is not usually a privacy concern. Then payment requests can be used as you described (multiple requests) over email more easily than bitmessage. Click on the payment request for this month in t...

Re: What gives bitcoin value?

Rephrasing the question as 'what gives bitcoin a non-zero price?' ... It's price is determined by supply and demand rates as we would expect. Imo, 'utility' provides a minimal demand rate. I suspect this demand is small and quite inelastic with price (people would buy no matter what price in order t...

Please don't. It's just like top-posting an email reply; used solely to avoid answering certain points in the email and obfuscating the fact that you've done so.

Why has Open Bazaar gotten so much more attention than this one? I'd say it was a result of it being the only (afaik) fork of Amir's darkmarket. It gained publicity and legitimacy at that time, and capitalized on it since then. In hindsight, openbazaar never really got anywhere. New release soon, b...

I hadn't realized how bad my eyes are getting until trying to use this forum. Without night mode it's just impossible. Did I miss that setting? If so, where is it (or a decent approximation even)?
