Re: Blythe Masters talks blockchain

To be fair, I think the first 20 mins is a pretty good explanation of what block-chian is (to the lay-man).

But the rest is essentially an advertisement for her business.

Bitcoin story

Today there is a Bitcoin story front and centre, on the front page of one of Australia's biggest newspaper. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/ Unfortunately you need a subscription to actually read their articles. But its right at the top of the physical version of the newspaper. Headline reads: Bitco...

Re: Is the Australian Craig Wright the real Satoshi?

I would be absolutely shocked if this joker turned out to be Satoshi. But Litecoin guy you need to fix what you wrote - Seems that this Satoshi may have defrauded the Australian Government possibly out of 50 million. Pretty Certain has become highly certain that this is not Satoshi. http://www.busin...

Re: If Bitcoin was to become illegal in your jurisdiction...

I think if it were to become illegal to "own and transact" it would be hard to use because there would be nowhere to spend it.

In places like Australia if the government made it illegal people would (imo) just hoard it and hope its useable one day.

Re: Indoor Soccer Review

ITS SPRAINING MEN FC 2 vs. Asia United 5 (featuring one non-Asian guy) It was a hard fought loss for our valiant heroes yesterday as we succumbed to a team of mini Monkey Magic look-a-likes. Things started poorly and got steadily worse all night, until we ended up at cafe de Villi's - drowning our ...

Indoor Soccer Review

I'm not sure if anyone here would be interested. But I write a weekly review, which chronicles the farcical adventures of my very unsuccessful indoor soccer team (this season we are currently yet to win a game). The reviews have a small cult following among my mates, our friends and some random peop...

Re: I’m Matej Michalko, Founder of DECENT: A Blockchain Based Decentralised Digital Content Distribution Platform. AMA!

Hi Matej, I watched the video on DECENT, its a really great idea. I have a few questions. 1. Did something happen to you personally (or to a DECENT team member) which gave you personal motivation to start DECENT? 2. Is your thinking (especially regarding content like intellectual property) shaped by...

Satoshi unable to win Nobel

My apologies if this has already been discussed anywhere on the forum, but I have not seen it anywhere. Early this month Bhagwan Chowdry put forward an idea to nominate Satoshi for the Nobel prize that was recently shut down by the people who award the prize saying it is not awarded posthumously or ...

Hi Roger,

1. What are your favourite books?

2. Who are the people in Bitcoin that impress you the most?

3. Who will build the roads?

Re: Fire in a Crowded Theater

Some people argue there is nothing wrong with yelling fire in a crowded theatre, even when there is no fire. I would argue a lot of bitcoiners would be in this camp. See chapter 10 of Walter Block's book - "Defending the Undefendable" literally called - the person who yells fire in a crowded theatre...

Re: I'm Asher Tan, co-founder & CEO of CoinJar. Ask me anything.

I'm sorry, Asher, but you are doing yourself and your company an absolute disservice by the way you are dealing with the questions regarding Zhou Tong. I only have a very superficial knowledge of the issue as a whole, so I have no feelings as to his apparent guilt or innocence. But your responses to...

Re: Bitcoin Giveways

I take your point smartie, giving people bitcoin for drawings, jokes etc. is essentially what I mean when I say give-aways. You cant, to use your analogy, "teach someone to fish" in a class-room though, you need to be out on the lake with a rod and reel. My main point is Bitcoin just needs to be put...

Really? I didn't need to. (However when clicking on the link it did ask)

Well if you want to read it type "Russian bitcoin" in to google news and its the first result. When doing this it doesn't ask for you to sign up!

Found this, this morning. Claims a Russian/Chinese ponzi is causing the spike.

Bitcoin Giveways

I was very interested in Edwards very generous Bitcoin giveaway from a few days ago. Due to lack of posts and reputation I didn't bother entering, but it did get me thinking. How important do you guys think giveaways, prizes, etc. are/will be in the adoption of bitcoin? To me it seems like something...

I'd like to think I'd ask - Did bitcoin achieve what you had hoped for it? (to this point anyway!)

But in reality I would probably ask if he could send a few coins my way

Re: Australian Users Thread

Hi another Aussie here. Good to see there are a few around the place. Walking around Adelaide I always have a disturbing feeling that I'm the only libertarian in the place - and I know that I'm the only bitcoiner. Anyway hello, and Rupert look forward to next Wednesday.
