Recently, I had the opportunity to see Roger Ver speak live at the Shape the Future conference in Hong Kong. I wasn't surprised by Roger's comments on BCC's larger block sizes or it's faster confirmation speeds or his critique of the core team. I had watched enough interviews of him to know these views already. I was impressed by the way Roger treats people.
A lot of big name speakers at the event gave their speeches and listened to the speeches of other famous people then immediately left the conference area, but Roger stayed back. And he listened. It' didn't matter if the content was really basic or that the speakers weren't as famous in the community, Roger paid attention to every single one of them. This speaks volume about his character and his respect for others.
Then there were his fans. Roger made time for each and every one of them. It didn't matter if it was a 10 minute break or a 2 hour lunch, Roger patiently spoke to each person who wanted to talk to him. He spoke to everyone as an equal, unlike many other successful early bitcoin adopters who give off an arrogant attitude. Even when I spoke to him one on one, you could see how charismatic, knowledgeable and friendly he was.
So here's to Roger Ver, the man who dedicated 8 years of his life to bitcoin. I hope you achieve your goal of a libertarian county, I'm definitely supporting you with your vision.
