Trouble retrieving BCC with Bitcoin.com wallet

Mon Sep 04, 2017 6:24 pm

I just downloaded the updated Android Bitcoin.com wallet which now supports Bitcoin Cash.

I created a new Bitcoin Cash wallet using the seed phrase from my previous Bitcoin wallet. When the wallet came up, it showed 0.00 BCC balance. There should be a little over 1 BCC in there, as that's what I was holding in BTC before the Aug 1st fork. I gave it a few minutes and nothing changed.

So I deleted the wallet and tried using the settings "Import from wallet" option to import the private key directly from my BTC wallet, also in the app. Now I get the error message: "COPAYER_REGISTERED: Copayer ID already registered on server"

I assume this is because I tried creating the same wallet with the same private key twice. Can I get some help here? How long do I have to wait until the server expunges the previous wallet I made?

Update: I was a little bit anxious about this so I used BTC.com's BCC importer to retrieve the funds.

I would still like an update as to why my Bitcoin.com wallet balance was zero. Did I just have to wait longer? BTC.com's tool found my BCC in about 30 seconds.

Thanks. If anything, there should be some kind of throbber with a reassuring message like "searching for funds," if indeed that's what it was doing and I just didn't wait long enough.

Ok i have been in touch with one of the devs and he has advised me that if Import feature doesn't work, you should be able to use Create Personal Wallet -> Show Advanced Options -> Wallet Key -> Specify Recovery Phrase

The reason why the wallet shows 0 BCC is because the coins are probably in an address that the wallet doesn't know about
To rectify this try:
Go to Settings -> [Wallet] -> More Options -> Wallet Addresses, then under "Unused Addresses", click on the Plus icon to generate a new address. After creating 10-20 addresses (or until he gets the address with the coins), click on "Scan addresses for funds"

You should then see your BCC funds available.

Kind of a moot point, now, but thanks! :)

This should be looked at for the next version as it's extremely non-intuitive.

Just wanted to let the forums know that my gf was having the same problem with the Bitcoin.com wallet, but following the above instructions worked! :D

Dear, by mistake send BCC to my BTC Bitcoin.com wallet, now it shows me the balance of BCC as if they were BTC, and every time I try to create a BCC wallet the balance is zero. I used the import procedures, creating new wallets, creating 10-20 addresses and then scanning addresses with funds, etc. The result is always the same positive balance in BTC, and zero BCC, when it should be reversed. What I can do???

Hi mhorellanau,

I want to make sure that I understand correctly so that I may be of some help.

You indicate that you sent Bitcoin Cash to a Bitcoin wallet (a Bitcoin.com wallet). Is that specifically correct?

Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash public and private keys are the same so if you sent you Bitcoin Cash to a Biticoin address then your Bitcoin Cash is now at the same address (i.e., Bitcoin address) but on the other chain (i.e., Bitcoin Cash).

Two different chains, same keys.
