Re: Farmed accounts coming to this forum?

Mon Jan 23, 2017 2:03 am

@Decoded, we all have our own views on different subjects and sometimes rizzlarolla can be a little harsh and doesn't mind throwing the accusations around but even if we don't all agree on what he says 100% of the time i can see that he does put work and effort into each of his post (just like yourself) And for that reason i am happy to have him here helping fight the bct account farmers from invading this forum.

I actually made this thread one of my nominations in the 4btc prize draw last night because i think it is a subject that needs to be discussed, and you are right bribery won't work in helping anyone win the competition. :)
(If anyone does PM myself with a bribe offer i will be posting that PM on the forum for all to see)

We are starting to get a few members here now including both of you that actually carry on discussions and don't just post for payouts, that is great to see because it shows the community here is building.
I thank you for that nomination Bitkilo.
I am a little harsh at times. I should try to throttle that back a little.

Accusations i make (on this topic) are made after much time in research.
I have felt somewhat compelled to go down that path due to the absence of reply.
In the many months of research on bitcointalk not 1 single response from theymos.

Only a few people have access to the data format i have seen, theymos obviously being one of them.
I don't think any other bitcointalk member has submitted a complete list, only 1 or 2 have found part lists.
That is because their limited data access makes it impossible to see.

I find it hard not to draw my conclusion given all the evidence facing me.

--------------------

I have never earned btc for posting. I have never asked anyone for btc.
I did not offer my btc address in the hacked bitfinex "1000 btc" giveaway (on bitcointalk). That was scammy btc.
Roger is "giving away" a 4 btc prize. Someone will win. I have thrown my hat in. Not scammy btc.

(lets take any "4 btc" discussion over to the prize thread)
Do you really believe that users farm accounts (in the hundreds)? Not an insult or anything of the sort, just a genuine question. I've never seen any evidence that people owned more than a couple of accounts, up to 20. I know a old account seller who still sells accounts privately. Not sure of his sources, however.

I didn't mean any offence, just wanted to prove my point that maybe the problem isn't as big as you make it to be, since the main reason is badly managed campaigns. But in the end, I ended up ranting on. Apologies.

Honestly, I'm not really one to care for Theymos' work. He tends to focus on the wrong things. I really don't think more than a month (up to a year in some cases) waiting for an account recovery or even a response is alright. Epochtalk Devs were overpaid and haven't really done much, IMO. Took them months to fix a simple login issue which is still, for me, unfixed.

I'd love to see this forum grow into something big. Just a community of people that care and show support for each other is what I want to see. One can see examples of this in the Collectibles section of Bitcointalk, where no spammer is able to post, since it is a topic with a small community.

Hey Decoded, thanks for your interest. (this post is long, but can be skimmed over mostly)

I really do believe farmed accounts are a major problem for spam, stealing multiple sig payment and scamming.
I guess you have not really followed my farmer thread and 500+ thread on bct?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1597201.0 - farmer thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1670807.0 - 500+ thread
Please let me explain how these threads show evidence of 100's of accounts belonging to 1 farmer.

ABCD REPEAT LISTS.
These were some of the first accounts i found. I found these to be VERY obvious when seen, such as
November 22, 2015, 08:04:34 AM - November 22, 2015, 09:10:55 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic ... sg16055803

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661268 sadasa (328)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661275 dumada (97) ***
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661289 Zacudis (168)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661293 madwica (612)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661296 samasas (20)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661300 dumpida (187)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661309 Zicadis 24)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661316 mandica (295)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661324 sanadas (256)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=661356 danfoda (112)

As you can see, these 16 accounts were created in 1 day (nov 22 2015) over several hours. (it is not really ABCD repeat here but Zmsd repeated 4 times. only the Z accounts start with a capital letter)
If you look at my 500+ thread, you can easily see that the next day, nov 23 2015, 23 more ABCD repeat accounts were created. (KRFP repeat - all accounts start with capital letter)
Again the next day, nov 24 2015, 20 more accounts were created in this ABCD repeat format (ZMBF - all accounts start with capital letter)
And again the day after, nov 25 2015, 24 accounts were created. (savm - all accounts start with a small letter this time)

83 ABCD repeat accounts created in 4 days. How clear is that?
(there are a few other non ABCD accounts listed that were created immediately adjoining above taking the 4 day tally to around 90)

ALPHABET LISTS.
These are accounts created in alphabetical order, such as,

These 22 accounts were also created on nov 25, 2015.
The following day, nov 26 2015 another 21 alphabet accounts were created.
The day after that, nov 27 2015, another 30 alphabet accounts were created.
This continues over many other days, nov 28, 29, 30, dec 1,3,4,5,19,20,21,22,23, jan 5,9,10,14,16,19.
A total of 208 ALPHABET accounts were created. (there a almost certainly more i have not yet found)
These accounts MUST be the same farmer.

These 55 accounts all created on aug 8, 2016.
AS you can see from their posts on 14 aug, they all post in "rota". (i have added 11 aug post rota in the farmer thread)
35 other ROTA accounts were created the following day.
The posting rotas show they are all posted by 1 person. Their job is to pump the latest scam. Waves, ARK, Chronobank.io to name a few.
All vapourware or pump and dump,

I think my 500+ thread lists around 700 accounts.
I an sure that the ABCD and ALPHABET farmers are the same. As one style stops, the other starts, and other things.
I personally think most accounts on my 500+ thread are the same farmer.

I hope i have made this problem clearer for you and others to see?
This has been clear to theymos for far longer than me. He must be taking his share of the spoils.

Question - How can i look at the next account to register, and the one after that? or any account?.
I know the u-number here - obviously u14537. But i don't know the account name yet. Search here does not compute for me without both.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the input on this.
I'll also try to keep an eye on things and see if the overall quality of the discussion here improves.

I'm hoping that the signature campaigns can act as a way of kick starting the whole forum.
The AMA series was a good start, but not enough to fully get things going.
Well, no discussion improvement forthcoming?

Oh the sig campaign, lol, now down to half a dozen spammers.
OG nasty just takes the lion share of those btc. Are you nuts Roger?

OGnasty, bitcointalk treasurer, theymos supporter, by default censorship backer - paid by Ver to wreak this forum, imo.

Yes, all the spam really is annoying.

There have to be phpBB plugins that can be installed to stem this tide. :(

We nip it in the bud as quickly as we can but captcha solving programs are really ahead of the curve and captchas can't keep up. We're constantly experimenting with different methods and we're trying to strike a balance between having as free and open a forum as possible and keeping the spam in check. The very last thing we want to do is censor any users ability to post non-spam topics.

I think you misunderstand the situation at hand. The 'qwe123' accounts and the like are automated spambots and we ban them along with deleting all their posts when we spot them / when they are reported to us. Captcha solving technology is very good these days at doing what it does, and we do what we can to prevent it and get rid of it when it appears.

I'm not sure what you're talking about when you mention "fraud farming" - can you clarify on that point? These are spambots, rizzlarolla. Their purpose is simply to spam forums.

Then qwe0022 spams the ... out of the forum, buy this, invest in that, you will ban him.
Then qwe0033...?

Re: Farmed accounts coming to this forum?

What i mean, when qwe0011 spams the ... out of the forum, buy this, invest in that, you will ban him.
Then qwe0022 spams the ... out of the forum, buy this, invest in that, you will ban him.
Then qwe0033...?
I think you mean, why don't the mods go into the user list and group-ban all the accounts with these similar names, before they even post?

That is probably what i am seeking clarification on here, but there are many other ways of detecting these accounts, regardless of name or IP.
I guess you must have seen my research into account farming on bitcointalk?

For those who have not, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1670807.0
(i've given up maintaining that list, pointless when it is clear to me theymos is the farmer/.scammer)

Hey rizz, good to see you back here :)
What other ways do you recommend that we look for these spammers?

We don't want to be banning accounts just because their username is similar to the spammers that show up, could be just a coincidence and I would rather spend the time banning all the spammers than ban 1 legitimate user.

Hey Bitkilo. this confused me. i read your other posts to me a day or so ago and left in a huff, returning to reply i find this welcome back!

We've kinda had this attempt at a "how do we do it" conversation a few times now, yes?
It never goes anywhere.
Partly because no one your end catches on, or looks/listens, partly because i'm not gonna spend all my time running around after farmed accounts here for nothing. I tried looking out before, and was badly let down by you, ultimately Roger, leaving me 24 hours to prove stuff from thin air. I was away in that 24h. There certainly was a [lot of dodgy dealings going on. I have no access here to simple info i can easily get on btc. (as i have said before but nothing changed) That episode left me looking somewhat stupid. (which i possibly am, but you can't have both ways)
Please don't make me to drag all this up again by saying something silly.

i never want any real individual banned, because he is wrongly accused by me of being farmed.
On my bct farmed account list, over 1000 accounts i identified, not 1 account seriously questioned their inclusion.
(i put my rep on the line. it is all on one of two threads i have/had there about this)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1670807.0

The fact that theymos runs allows these accounts, leads to more farmed accounts being allowed by the "community"
(although, it is past that now. farmed/hacked accounts outnumber any "real" accounts many times)
Correct and decisive action will itself act as a deterrent.

26000 accounts is very manageable number, but many will be dormant, so undetectable.
Any serious attempt would have to include an assessment/restrictions on these accounts

I am willing to help. I did ask Roger for an apology, not forthcoming.

(ok fin)
sorry, just had to add more explanation.
