It isn't even remotely an attack.
Bitcoin always has and always will be about what the majority of hash rate thinks.

Theymos' censorship campaign has been the real attack on bitcoin.

Should we take this to read that any wallet we use "should" be prepared to handle the fall out? If not, can you direct us folks that are less technologically educated on how we can protect ourselves properly?

Thank you.

Any wallet that has the user holding their private keys should be fine, but be careful about moving coins immediately after the coin split.

So a cartel of miners decide what bitcoin is? Think about the children Roger! And your coffee!

Theymos' censorship campaign has been the real attack on bitcoin.
That censorship campaign is spreading. The censorship no occurs over the most bullshit topics. And the enforcement is in gang format. It's hilarious, but not something that can be overcome. Theymos' mob is so tight that the street fighters will do anything to eliminate anyone who has a constructive opinion of opposition.

Thank you, Roger, for bringing sanity and safety and freedom to this thing we love so much.

That is clearly not what Roger said, LiteCoinGuy, and your statement belies a childlike misunderstanding of the free market. If you feel Bitcoin mining has become too centralised, or that power has been concentrated in the hands of too few people (a 'cartel' as you put it), you are entirely free to start your own mining company in order to challenge and try to change this.

Bitcoin is the majority of hash rate. Whichever chain has the most hash rate supporting it is and always will be Bitcoin. Any chain that forks off the chain with the majority of hash rate is an altcoin, as any UASF/BIP148 coin will most likely be.

That being said, Bitcoin.com has committed to following the true Bitcoin chain. If it turns out that UASF/BIP148 gets the majority of hash rate behind it we will follow that chain as that chain will be Bitcoin.

Though you are somewhat maniacal in your dislike of Bitcoin.com and those associated with it, there should be no enemies here in this debate. This whole thing is about unleashing Bitcoin's true potential, and every side is putting forth what it believes is the best route to do that. Free, open discussion is crucial to this, and ad hominem attacks do nothing to encourage progression of the discussion at hand.

If all stakeholders (miners, users, exchanges, developers, etc.) could put aside the 'holier than thou' attitude that has been contributing to stifling discussion then a compromise could be found which benefits not any one group, but benefits Bitcoin itself. And that should be the goal here - ensuring that Bitcoin's potential is not lost due to stagnation of development.

For me, this forum has alot more censorship than any other forum i visited! Why do i get downvotes for everything that i post? New members should not be treated like that.

bitcointalk.org
is alot better!

Hi LiteCoinGuy,

I've asked you countless times to provide evidence of censorship and you have failed to do so every. single. time.

Here's the relevant Merriam-Webster definition of the word "censorship":
Definition of censorship
1 a: the institution, system, or practice of censoring
- They oppose government censorship.
b: the actions or practices of censors; especially : censorial control exercised repressively
- censorship that has … permitted a very limited dispersion of facts — Philip Wylie
Here's the relevant Merriam-Webster definition of the word "censor""
Definition of censor
to examine in order to suppress (see suppress 2) or delete anything considered objectionable censor the news; also : to suppress or delete as objectionable censor out indecent passages
Censorship does not occur on this forum. If you have been censored please let me know which of your posts have been altered or deleted by moderators and I will see to it that those posts are restored in their entirety, and I will remove any relevant moderators from the team. I won't forget to remove their moderator permissions this time, either, you cheeky SpaceMonkey.

People clearly disagree with your 'UASF' posts, hence the negative reputation assigned to those posts. Again, they are not 'downvotes' - they are reputation points assigned to posts which users agree or disagree with.

You're not a new member, you're LiteCoinGuy and I have verified this; a little maturity on this point wouldn't go astray. And as far as bitcointalk is concerned, they do engage in censorship by editing and deleting posts - something which I'm sure you won't kick up any fuss about at all, because you've already proven yourself to be entirely hypocritical in this regard.

bitcointalk.org is alot better!
It's complete lack of a mobile enabled design makes it very low on my visit list.

I think it is sad that the forum's 6,000 BTC in funds that it was going to utilise for rebuilding the software, and that two years after Michael Marquardt put out the RFQ he confirmed nothing had been done because he was still thinking, and that friends/associates of Michael Marquardt (a.k.a. "Theymos") were brought in on the scheme, but here we are almost 6 years later (and more than 15 million USD) the bitcointalk site still sucks donkey balls.
