It's so disappointing to see the amount of FUD coming out.
> Maybe it is even possible to steal your coins, dont install software from Bitmain!
You are such a fucking troll.
Yes you are correct that the amount of FUD we are seeing being spread by many sides within the bitcoin community now is disappointing to see but this is not the way to reply to another user. It's so disappointing to see the amount of FUD coming out.

The FUD being spread is the sort of nonsense from LiteCoinGuy. Example being exactly what I quoted from that user, "Maybe it is even possible to steal your coins, dont install software from Bitmain!". That is fear, uncertainty and doubt right there. There is zero evidence of this being possible. I've been looking through the code and I see nothing that indicates malicious intent from Bitmain. Look at archive.org, they were building a miner management interface on http://www.minerlink.com. But no, this is *all* because "Jihan want to shut down the bitcoin network". Get a grip.So the backdoor was apparently in the code to allow people to be able to remotely connect to their miners, ok sounds normal so far.
Is this a common feature in mining equipment software and if so I am sure many people would either already be using it or have disabled it but if this is a feature specific to Bitmain then you would think they would be happy for people to know about it, let's face it you don't add a special feature to keep it a secret do you.
I will follow this article (with your help of updates, wink wink) but i do think that this particular article was a bit far fetched or quickly put together for me, I don't think I have ever read an article with the word "could" printed so many times.

It would be much better off for the discussion if you told us exactly what you think is FUD in the article.
Stop lying! It is sad but at this point everything is possible when i comes from Bitmain. I hope we can rid of this malicious company in the future.
I agree that what you quoted was a classic example of FUD - "Maybe it is even possible to steal your coins, dont install software from Bitmain!" since this was not in the article so was not a quote but a statement of LiteCoinGuy's, maybe before attacking next time straight off it would be better to just ask him why he posted that line and see what his response is.The FUD being spread is the sort of nonsense from LiteCoinGuy. Malicious intent is being demonstrated clearly by Core representatives. Baseless allegations are being thrown around by Core representatives. They are full of FUD, and LiteCoinGuy is straight up lying. Nobody lost coins. There is no code in there that a person could lose coins. LiteCoinGuy is a lying troll.
Consider that any savvy security admin will lock outbound requests to explicit permit rules only. On that basis alone the suggestion that this is a backdoor should only be accepted by those who do not understand.
Repeating once again: LiteCoinGuy is a liar and a troll. Treat with caution.
An honest mistake or being duped is understandable, but LiteCoinGuy just spreads lies. There is no point in engaging trolls. LiteCoinGuy consistently posts bullshit FUD. I will highlight that user's lies and deceit for all, at the very least to give notice that the user LiteCoinGuy is an outright liar and should not be trusted.I agree that what you quoted was a classic example of FUD - "Maybe it is even possible to steal your coins, dont install software from Bitmain!" since this was not in the article so was not a quote but a statement of LiteCoinGuy's, maybe before attacking next time straight off it would be better to just ask him why he posted that line and see what his response is.
At least try to start off by trying to talk rationally, I am sure LiteCoinGuy is human so could be conned by "fake news" like anyone else so why not at least try to talk to him about what you believe is the right direction for bitcoin to be going in, engage him in conversation. He posts a lot of this material so must have an opinion on the matter.
Encouraging fraud too? What a complete sack of shit LiteCoinGuy is. And you, BitcoinXio bitkilo, should take a step back and have a serious think about exactly what you are supporting here. Credit card fraud is a criminal activity and LiteCoinGuy is directly encouraging the execution of crime. Those who bought using credit card: file a chargeback with a reason: faulty software / hardware or some other.
Again you are jumping to attack people, if you had of just asked me if i support that particular line of his post then i would have told you no i do not support anything like that, i must admit that i kind of missed it the first time but now that you have pointed it out i can see it clearer. An honest mistake or being duped is understandable, but LiteCoinGuy just spreads lies. The very least I would expect to see is the editing of the first comment to strike the baseless and false accusations, with an edit note explaining that the claim was fallacious and s/he apologises for making such a libellous and ignorant (of the facts) claim.

Edit: Corrected username.
No, stealing coins based on the open source code that anyone can verify what it actually does is not the case; that is just spreading massive FUD.It is sad but at this point everything is possible when i comes from Bitmain. I hope we can rid of this malicious company in the future.
Nice play Roger.I'm really glad LiteCoinGuy is here to start so many threads, but this one is really shocking. There is no evidence of malicious intent on the part of Bitmain with any of this. It all seems like an intentional tempest in a teacup that was orchestrated by Core supporters. I'm shocked and saddened that LiteCoinGuy fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

Encouraging people to commit credit card fraud? LiteCoinGuy is a lying scumbag. Please make a charge back in case you bought some of these malicious miners with a credit card.
There was no installation of "malware, viruses or backdoors". Try a chargeback if you feel like gambling with the courts, but I will caution anyone even thinking about doing this (certainly no Bitmain customer would, simply because they have the undisputed best hardware and have not done anything to hurt their customers) to sleep on it as such an action would constitute the crime of fraud in many jurisdictions. The FTC recommends utilizing a charge back if a company installs malware, viruses or backdoors. So pretty sure this is not "encouraging fraud".
You're conflating a backdoor with malware and viruses. The FTC says you can do a chargeback for malware but NOT for backdoors. Backdoors are actually pretty common, especially for admins/technicians to be able to get in. It is a security risk and this is why it's a big deal for Bitcoin. But it doesn't make it bad or an acceptable chargeback method for the FTC. Trying to perform a chargeback for this would likely be declined as there is nothing malicious [according to Bitmain] about the backdoor, nor any malware or viruses. The FTC recommends utilizing a charge back if a company installs malware, viruses or backdoors. So pretty sure this is not "encouraging fraud".
Charging back antminer purchases is probably completely legal. Returning them should be at the sellers expense, and opportunity costs should be deducted as well. Given how mining works and hashrate increaes: if the seller is willing to pay you 50% of the cost of an unusable device to get it back... that would be a fair settlement:

I have just PM'd BitcoinXio about this and removed the -100 reputation points.i recieved -100 points for ONE comment which BitcoinXio disliked? why is that? that was never allowed in the first place! when will this censorship stop?
BitcoinXio adding -100 reputation points certainly was not an appropriate thing to do given his position, and he has now been advised of this. However, he has not made any similar transgressions in the past so the title of 'abusing your mod status here more than anyone else' remains with you, for the time being.BitcoinXio you are abusing your mod status here more than anyone else!
It is a shame how this forum has evolved over the years.
Well, no.BitcoinXio should be removed as a mod because he abused his power!
