On many of the existing English language discussion platforms, no one is allowed to advocate in favor of bigger blocks, BitcoinXT, or even discuss the fact that censorship is taking place. My hope is that Bitcoin.com can become a beacon for open discussion.

Why do this on a forum with just 1000 members?
There are sub reddits that handle AMA that is not in control of theymos...

Why do this on a forum with just 1000 members?
Because after these AMAs complete, this forum will will be one of the premier sources to discuss Bitcoin and related topics.
It even looks like you registered yourself specifically because of this AMA event.

Welcome!

I feel worried that after you have took the efforts to convince all those people to join in this AMA, it gets such less exposure being hosted here instead of places like /r/IAmA/ or /r/AMA where you can also get people's attention that are not monitoring Bitcoin frequently, which I think is important. Also, personally I feel plain forum is not well suited for a long AMA.

I'm not entirely sure about being "premier source" when bitcointalk has 500 times more members at this moment.
Sure, censoring has been a hot topic over there as of late, but has this got something to do with bitcoin.com affiliation?

Bitcoin.com will soon be the premier place for online discussions regarding Bitcoin.
The censorship in other locations will just speedup the mass of users coming to this board.

Here is an example of the censorship happening today:

It is up to all of us to spread the word regarding this forum that will allow advocates of more than one point of view to state their opinions.
I look forward to having everyone's help spreading the word.

Is anyone really surprised? BitcoinTalk and /r/Bitcoin have been on a censorship bender for months now.
That's exactly why we need another place for the industry to gather.

Well it is what we have come to expect from Theymos. Theymos literally has arguably the three most visible bitcoin social media sites in his sole control. The wiki, Bitcointalk and r/Bitcoin. This is to him someone taking that control away as we ramp up bitcoin.com. Theymos, we are going to make you and your censorship irrelevant!

The blatant censorship of open dialog in bitcoin space must be stopped. Bitcoin is about monetary freedom, and that must have a basis in freedom of speech.

I support Bitcoin.com in this endeavour to take back the dialog to open forums.

Roger Will you have a Video AMA(through Youtube,Custom HTML5 Video,Vimeo etc.. kind of like a video podcast) with these people or just a regular AMA like reddit?

Also get Brian Armstrong from Coinbase and the CEO Of GoCoin to do a AMA!

We can do both!
Ultimately it is up to each participant how much time they can devote to the AMA event.
I love the idea of streaming a Google Hang out and allowing people to ask questions there.
Does anyone have experience organizing that sort of thing and want to oversee it for the participants who will do video AMAs as well?

Nice! I wanted to so also add the winkelvoss Twins(CEO of Gemini) as a request for the huge AMA that you are hosting? Also I think Youtube Live stream is easy & simple to set up compared to google hangouts.

Hey Roger, hope you are well!

I came across the press release on /r/Bitcoin, Joe (Lee) here from Magnr.com, would love to get involved and push this in front of our users too. Happy to be on it as would Colin. I spot a common theme of the Lee's of bitcoin doing AMAs on the 10th Nov. Put me down for then?

hi h1d and welcome :) ,

everything has to start somewhere. this forum is 3-4 weeks old, of course it has not so many members as the other forum has.

but this forum was created in the spirit of decentralization. it is very bad for this community that one guy (theymos) controlls all major news sources. iam glad that someone like Roger launched this forum, it can only be a good thing for bitcoin.

let us do our best to make this place a success :)

Hey @rogerver,

I think you should invite Johann Gevers (CEO of monetas.net). They recently were the first blockchain company to roll out in an entire country, as you can check here http://www.coindesk.com/tunisias-post-o ... ments-app/

Johann has also a very good understanding about on-chain and off-chain transactions.

Actually two weeks ago some people asked him to do an AMA on reddit and he agreed, but I think that it hasn´t been done yet.

I think he will be a great participant to add on the list! ;)

this forum was created in the spirit of decentralization
I see the intention to create a new community base on the best possible domain but can you be specific about how you mean by decentralization?
Isn't this place run by a small amount of people who are interested in selling ads on *.bitcoin.com?

Zero upvotes surely isn't censorship, but rather has something to do with an uninspiring title compared to "The mother of all Bitcoin AMAs" which currently has 138 upvotes.

Also, I second h1d's question about whether a plain forum is the optimal place for a hugely long AMA?

This made me join the forum, r/Bitcoin just hasn't felt or been the same anymore since the ridiculously immature censorship started.

Looking forward to the AMA's, thanks to the whole team behind this.
