Bitcoin payments are anonymous?

Fri May 01, 2020 2:07 pm

Hi, everybody.
I have a few questions about bitcoin payments:

is the payment, even though personal data has been put in the wallet, completely anonymous?

Is there any way we can track who you sent the money to?

Bitcoin transactions are public for the whole world to see. It can be anonymous if you cover your tracks, both publicly and with your payment processors. In theory, Bitcoin CAN be completely anonymous, but chances are there is something tied to your real name.

Yes, of course. This is due to the use of blockchain and encryption

It is pseudonymous, to be more exact. Every person has a public key that belongs to them, that is connected to the transactions they make. However, you cannot access any identification of a person behind the key.

Bitcoin and Blockchain system is pretty public. But if you look for anonymous crypto you can try to use Monero (XMR). Probably it's the most anonymous coin in the market. Monero is one of the few cryptocurrencies that truly ensures the privacy of users.

The transactions and addresses are public and people can see them. But it's not directly linked to anyone's personal identity. It means nobody will know how are you, what are you doing and how you looking :)

I'd say it's pseudo anonymous. You can still track wallet address.

Actually, not really... Your wallet address will be public. But your personal data will be anonymous.

The only way to achieve completely anonymous transactions in the crypto space is via anonymous coins like XRP (monero).

Absolutely not, bitcoin transactions can be traced. All Transactions have an audit trail and can be linked to the creator.

It is not for nothing that Bitcoin is sometimes called a glass safe, where all transactions are under lock and key, but at the same time in full view. The anonymity of Bitcoin lies in the ability of the user not to provide any personal data at the time of receipt of the digital coin. If today, as before, Bitcoins were mined only through mining, then the cryptocurrency would indeed be anonymous. However, due to the rules set by some exchanges, many bitcoin addresses can be linked to real individuals. Therefore, in order to increase your chances of keeping your transaction completely anonymous, you must carefully choose the platform on which it is made.
