Recently I noticed that I was included in your supporter’s promotional video complaining that the 1% aren't patriots.
I can't speak for the others listed in your video, but I for one, am proud to denounce patriotism.
Patriotism is just as disgusting as racism, and for the exact same reasons. Why should anyone care more about one group of human beings than another simply by the happenstance of their place of birth? Are we not all one human race on one giant rock hurtling through outer space? Shouldn't a stranger be a stranger regardless of where they happen to have been born, where they currently live, or the color of their skin?
You are rightly upset by the nineteen year old kids dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. I share your anger. However, the best thing that could possibly happen to those kids would be for the 1%, along with everyone else, to refuse to pay taxes, since those taxes are the very funds that were used to pay for them to go to these far off lands and die for absolutely nothing. It is a true tragedy. One that should be condemned by all. But we shouldn't just care about the American lives that were lost by wars. We should care about all lives lost.
And all of these wars around the world are funded by taxes. More often than not, by U.S. taxes. We should care about the half a million Iraqi children who died as a direct result of U.S. led sanctions, paid for with tax dollars. We should be enraged by the deaths at Pearl Harbor, the firebombs dropped on innocent civilians in Europe, and nuclear bombs dropped on civilians in Japan, all paid for with taxes. In fact, I would argue that war is simply mass murder, funded by theft. Putting on a costume and killing strangers because another stranger in a costume ordered you to do so, is no excuse.
Your policies are clearly intended to help, but it seems you don't see how they are backed up by violence. You represent a growing number of Americans who are fed up with unnecessary economic suffering. However, many of us who share your concerns about war and poverty have come to embrace not socialism, but voluntaryism. Voluntaryism is the idea that all human interactions should be free of coercion, based on individual self-ownership. This is in contrast to socialism, which is based on coercion justified by collective ownership. In the spirit of alleviating human suffering, I invite you to measure your ideals in a friendly debate against those of US Marine Core, Iraq War combat veteran, turned anti-war activist and author, Adam Kokesh. In fact, I’ll take some of the tax money I’ve saved by renouncing my U.S. Citizenship, and donate $100,000 USD worth of Bitcoin to the charity of your and Mr. Kokesh's choice, $50,000 a piece. That is money that would have potentially been used to buy bombs to murder even more innocent people had I paid taxes with it. Instead you can directly help those who need it most by choosing a non-governmental charity for me to donate the money to in your name.
Mr Kokesh has agreed to meet you in any city in America on any day between now and the end of the year. Name the time and place and he'll be there. You can choose an objective moderator, and immediately upon completion of a 3 hour debate in which you both have equal time, I will initiate the payments to your charities of choice.
