A Bitcoin.com mining pool?

Tue Jun 28, 2016 10:31 am

Hello,

I'm interested in setting up a Bitcoin.com mining pool.
I've reached out to several existing miners and pool operators and am considering partnering with them.
We have also noticed that Luke-Jr's pool software is open source: https://github.com/luke-jr/eloipool

Would anyone in our community be interested in helping get a Bitcoin.com mining pool off the ground?
I already have commitments from several miners to point their hashing power at our pool to help us get started.
I just need a reliable pool software, and reliable person to run it.
I'm more than happy to pay to get all of this done.
Is anyone willing to step up to the plate here?

Thank you all,

Roger Ver

It's a great idea.

We need a pool to support upcoming hardforks.

What about P2Pool as a basis?
I'm not *entirely* sure, but I think it's all open source too:

For those who don't know, Taras is an old friend and helped with much of the technical issues for Bitcoinstore.com, the first major place in the world for people to be able to spend their bitcoins. I've been in touch with him now, and things are moving ahead quickly for the pool!

KANO is opensource too.
From a quick glance, it looks like Kano is based on the Eligius pool software as well.

a P2Pool would be nice to have and valuable for the ecosystem.

We will look into P2Pool more in the future.
For now, it looks like we have something almost ready to start testing soon!
The blockchain is already downloading and we have 13GB worth synced in less than half an hour so far!

Hi Roger,

please consider Con Kolivas' pool software: CKpool. It is open source (GPL V3)
see here for more info:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=790323.0

Con is also the main author of cgminer.

edit: kano's pool is based on ckpool.

We need about 10Ph/s hash power to interest other miners.

I will help if you need me, especially WRT configuring and maintaining Bitcoin Unlimited if you want to use it (I'm hoping that you offer multiple nodes)

Roger,
I would like to support your pool. I used to mine, but my ASICs are now obsolete. I have considerable financial resources. I imagine there are others out there like me. Would you develop, as a priority, resources for independent miners? Advice and information on the latest ASIC equipment, where and how to buy, perhaps even organize group purchases?

Just a quick update for everyone:
Thanks to some open source software, along with Taras, Andrew Stone of Bitcoin Unlimited, Magma of Bitcoin.com we now have a basic mining pool up and running on test net!
There is still a lot of work to be done, but things are quickly headed in the right direction!

Special thanks to the LUXSTACK team as well for letting me borrow a couple of older ASIC miners to test with.

Is it possible to give some free Bitcoin to the people from the mining efforts? Such as a faucet that just helps people out?

We already built a faucet at https://free.bitcoin.com/
The problem is that the current network fees are way too high to make this a plausible way for new people to get their first bitcoin, so we don't advertise it at all.

This is really a shame too. I remember receiving my first bitcoin ever from Gavin's faucet, and feeling the magic and excitement of watching it happen.
Today, that magic isn't possible for people who are just now discovering Bitcoin.

I just thought people would like to know that our mining pool is approaching completion!

Here are some images of our user interface.
The Pool is currently mining on Testnet.
