Which of the digital currencies can be expected to be in wide use apart from Bitcoin and Ethereum?

No cryptocurrency has achieved the goal of being accepted in a large percent of physical stores. Bitcoin will be the first because of its headstart and position as a house-hold word, but the second and third are up for grabs.

It will be years before any currency is taken in more than 20% of stores, so it is impossible to predict early on. Litecoin could be second because of its age. Ehtereum could be second due to its popularity and security. Perhaps Ripple or Dash.

All we know is that if any coin will become widely accepted first, it will be Bitcoin.

Probably, EOS can be in wide use and became competitor to Etherium. EOS is launching a platform for developers to build decentralized applications and smart contracts, but with a huge improvement in technology. It supports multiple languages, including C++, which is still quite popular, and EOS is more scalable than Ethereum due to its advanced mechanism to verify transactions.

Apart from Bitcoin and Ethereum, Litecoin (LTC) and Ripple (XRP) can be expected to be in wide use.
No other cryptocurrency has achieved the position of Bitcoin.

I think, that MonetaryCoin can be in wide use. Its main feature is that its tokens will be dependant on the GDP rate of different countries.

There are many right now but soon they will consolidate. I think it is about the KYC. If there would be proper KYC done of ICO then KYC based ICO will be successful.

The thing with Bitcoin is that for the general public its this mysterious construct they don't really understand. And often the term "Bitcoin" is synonymous with "cryptocurrency". So it has a huge head start, and that is why I expect it to stay in the lead.
