BCH is a scam. The guys that developed it already had a ton of Bitcoin. So they created BCH so they could double it. Basically issuing themselves hundreds of millions of dollars worth of it and when it went live they sold it through the exchanges that they set up deals with and cashed out.

That is the whole reason they created it, so they could double their own Bitcoin holdings.

They probably even kicked back some money to the exchange owners for helping them sell it off.

So they get hundreds of millions of dollars free and most likely rolled it all back into original Bitcoin. Hence the huge spike in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Cash, BCH was a scam from the beginning. But absolutely genius.

Can you explain why?

In other news, the Bitcoin chain is now only 29% more profitable to mine than Bitcoin Cash, after the Bitcoin's most recent difficulty adjustment.

He is at least slightly annoyed and decided to mine just enough Bitcoin Cash blocks to block the EDA several times and mining 999kb blocks when Bitcoin Cash allows up to 8mb and the mempool was not empty.
Yes, blocking the EDA seems like an attack, but it can only be effective until 2016 blocks have been mined, then the difficulty will be adjusted to match the hashrate regardless of what the rogue miner tries to do.

The miners are finding blocks at a rate of 4-5 per hour. This means we'll get to block 2016 at most about 425hrs (17.7 days) from now. That's not all that long to wait! If the rate sticks closer to 5 blocks/hr then it would be just 14 days from now.

"not even the core client is segwit ready"

That is pretty darn funny if you think about it.
It would be even funnier if their roadmap hadn't caused so much damage to bitcoin adoption.

How long can BTC keep going up before the fees really catch up with it though? New ATH just today.

Are there stats on how much BTC is being traded fee-free on exchanges rather than actually being sent? I think that would be telling.

Have any prognostication about what we can expect for the next few months?

I really think the most important thing is to get retailers on-board. POS is where the pain of BTC fees will hurt the average user the most and get them searching for alternatives. If evangelism can be pushed on that front, the switch will happen all that sooner.

I've already moved a lot of my holdings to BCH so this latest dip hurts a bit. I wish I'd kept more BTC ammunition to buy BCH! But shoulda, woulda, coulda, right?

I made a tutorial on how to create a Bitcoin Cash Wallet:
Hey, Roger. I was just wondering, how long did it take for the funds to disappear from the wallet you created after posting the video? :)

Question about external wallets

Sat Oct 21, 2017 8:01 am

Hi there,

I have a question about storing coins on an external storage device.

The question that I have is if I have my coins stored on my Ledger external wallet, if a fork happens in ETH or BTC, how will any new coins generated be given to me?

I am asking this question because when BTC forked a few months ago, I got Bitcoin cash for the Bitcoin that I had on Blockchain.com but Coinbase did not give me any Bitcoin Cash. Since that time my external wallet has arrived and I am afraid that if i store my BTC and ETH on the external wallet that I will not be given any new coins generated.

Thanks for you help.

Michael

Blockchain.info is a Bitcoin wallet where you are holding the currency yourself.
Coinbase is a Bitcoin bank where they are holding the currency for you.

Ledger is also a wallet where you are holding the currency yourself.
As long as you have the private keys yourself, you will be able to access the coins on both sides of a fork.
Bitcoin.com also has a wallet that allows you to control your coins yourself.
