The Father of Online Anonymity Has a Plan to End the Crypto War

Wed Jan 06, 2016 11:55 pm

David Chaum plans to present for the first time a new encryption scheme he calls PrivaTegrity. Like other tools Chaum has spent his long career developing, PrivaTegrity is designed to allow fully secret, anonymous communications that no eavesdropper can crack, whether a hacker or an intelligence agency.

There's just one catch.... there's a built in backdoor! :(

Great article and intriguing indeed.

A real shame though that there is a backdoor programmed into the system. Even if it requires data from 9 servers in 9 jurisdictions - this is going to be a super massive pot of gold that hackers and gov agencies are sure to try to gain control over.

I would also be interested if the mere act of destroying a single server would render the backdoor useless. In that case I don't want it in my building nor in a datacenter where I host my servers.

Hopefully a version without the backdoor will be made.
Excited about the potential of Bitcoin Cash in the beautiful country of Belize.

Something really irks me about the name 'PrivaTegrity'. I see where he is going, but come on man don't be that guy.

What a waste. Never hurts to follow Snowden's recommendations, and he likes PGP using a 4096 key and Signal for Android.
