Moreover, when purchasing Bitcoins at an ATM machines please make sure that the service factors in a sufficient transaction fee.

If the transaction does not include an adequate network transaction fee the transaction is very unlikely to confirm. If it does not confirm within 14 days of being sent then the transaction will drop from the mempool and the funds will be returned to the sender (not you).

Of course I personally don't know them. But I think they still buy bitcoin this way. Of course it's easier to just buy them online at the computer or through your smartphone.

People definitely still use BTC ATMs, and the number is growing. While they do have higher fees, they can be convenient as well.

I thought bitcoin ATM machines are for withdrawing bitcoin money using a bitcoin card. Can one buy bitcoin from an ATM machine as well? Just curious at your comment

Hi, I don't know of any bitcoin atm which takes a 'bitcoin card.' The way it works is:

Sell bitcoin - You send bitcoin to an address provided by the machine and the machine gives you cash.

Buy bitcoin - You insert cash into the machine and then the machine sends bitcoin to any bitcoin address that you tell it to send to.

Some of the bitcoin atm machines only allow you to buy. Others allow both buying and selling.

I also think it's very stupid, because cryptocurrency has been available for online purchase for a long time. You only need a computer or a smartphone. Everything is made for it to be easy.

The designers of the bitcoin ATM should do some benchmarking of bank card ATMs, including time and motion studies of human behavior. Then they should use this information to set a time budget for all the steps of the corresponding bitcoin transaction, so that it is significantly faster than the bank card ATM. (If the bitcoin technology makes this impractical then they should be proactive in getting the bitcoin network to run faster.

Absolutely.. they're only getting more and more popular I think. In Australia (where I live), there's a company that is planning to roll out a couple of thousand across the country.
