Forum rules
Like the original Silk Road, we also prohibit the sale of “anything whose purpose is to harm or defraud.” This includes child pornography, stolen credit cards, assassinations and weapons of mass destruction. Unlike the original Silk Road we will also have to delete posts advertising things that are illegal in most jurisdictions. This isn't because we don't support your right to engage in these peaceful transactions, but because violent people we have never met, calling themselves the state, would likely use violence against us if we were to allow those things.

If you post an offering in this forum, and are using an ID that previously was in use on BitcoinTalk, you MUST digitally sign a message on both venues verifying your identity as being the same.

If you are unable, or unwilling to do this, you may still use this forum, but you must choose a unique user name.

Please post your verification in the-suggestion-box/signed-message-verif ... =signature.

Guys,

please put your verification message in a "code" attribute or your links will be truncated and therefor the message can't be verified by the mod!

The code icon is the fifth one in the upper editor toolbar:

Not signing anything for this but you can reference my profile on bitcointalk.org for proof under Other Contact Info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=351430
This is a clever way to verify your account on both sites. To the others, is this sufficient or must we post a PGP signature? If it's the latter I'll read up on how to do so and then post here accordingly.

Thanks.

If using the same user name on both forum you must sign a bitcoin address or PGP key that can be linked to your profile at the other forum.
Anyone can post a link to another members profile and say its them.

Understood, however Hellot didn't just post a link to the Hellot Bitcointalk profile, he/she put a link to his/her Forum.Bitcoin.Com profile in the profile on Bitcointalk. The only way he could do that is if he hacked the bitcointalk account.

Woof, this is the real "dogie" from bitcointalk.org. Whomever had registered the account "dogie" on bitcoin.com previously was not me. The account "dogie_bot" on bitcoin.com, probably won't get used if I can retain the "dogie" account on bitcoin.com. 2015/11/27.

I was not able to verify your address so i can't use that for any reference, you could always resign the address if you wish.

We really only ask members that as using the same username/ID on both forums to verify themselves to prevent impostor accounts being created.

Hello everyone,

I just signed up, was about time. I hope I'm not late to the party!

I am ente on Bitcointalk as well.
Well, I don't have a Bitcoinaddress in my other profile. And honestly I don't understand how PGP could help to establish that a person is both accounts on both forums.

So, what's your next preferred way to check this? How about this post?

Hi ente,
Although the post on bitcointalk would be sufficient to verify that you are the same user as of that date a signed address posted some time back would be better.
It would not only prove that you are ente but would also prove you are the original ente and not just someone who has purchased that account.

Due to account sales on bct we can never really say 100% that anyone is the original owner of the account name/ID they are using.

You must have posted an address somewhere since 2011 I would have thought.

I just signed the same message again and got the same signature .
The text signed is just what you get by clicking code: select all and then copying to clipboard. The address used to sign is the one in the message.
If that doesn't work for you, it's worth us finding out why. It would have to be a web page reformatting I guess, but I have no idea what kind of formatting would get through to you unscathed.

Hi, I was able to verify your signed message. This is a bitcoin signed address, so regular PGP verification won't work. You have to decrypt using a bitcoin client to verify.

I can see that the bitcoin address on your bitcointalk account is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... le;u=87314 which you signed a message from 1harryJLHBcivP4sFQjTMDPfYHXBUT7ED. I'm not sure what you do next Bitkilo, but I saw the back and forth and wanted to jump in and help. Everything looks good to me from here.

1) which one verified for you?
2) none was asking for a pgp public key in this thread so I assumed they were all bitcoin signatures.
3) normally when you get problems like that, it's the website screwing up line endings or blank lines. But in this case, I was able to select the code section text (in firefox) and verify as expected.
4) reading the thread (again!) I see you wanted a signed message also on bct. Is that necessary?

I just signed the same message again and got the same signature .
The text signed is just what you get by clicking code: select all and then copying to clipboard. The address used to sign is the one in the message.
If that doesn't work for you, it's worth us finding out why. It would have to be a web page reformatting I guess, but I have no idea what kind of formatting would get through to you unscathed.

Here's one without the code section (found in your preferred format post):

I'm not sure entirely on the process here that Bitkilo follows; Bitkilo if you want to chime in and let us know that would be great. I just saw the back and forth and wanted to help. I used Electrum to verify the signature below.

I just signed the text selected when you use 'select all.'
It verified for me. Let me know if you need something else, but it should be good.

I should have mentioned that the address signed is visible in my bitcointalk profile I guess ...
The name is my name also on reddit.
I have tried to verify twice now but won't work for me, can you try another message please.
Seriously?

Ok, thanks.

FYI, I used https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC?verifysignedmessage=1 (as you did?) to check both the code section message, and the armored one I posted.
They both verified there.
I understand you're rushed, but it's prolly worth figuring out what went wrong. Usually there's a simple cause and once found, you never forget!

Re: [Important] Signed Message Verification

I always have trouble verifing signatures with site link in the message. I use Blocktrail mostly to verfy.

@tm2013 just tried to verify your but it wouldn't work for me.
Is the exact message you signed:
12/25/2015
I hereby declare that I am tm2013, as found declared here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?actio ... e;u=183479
I declare that I own and entirely control the Bitcoin address 12w8JCUebtzBZkK6pScp9BEPhSEEaT3g6B

That is what i tried but twice now it says not valid.

If you just type a message with today's date, your username and mention that you are tm2013 on bct then that should work.
You can just post the bct profile link, don't add it to the signed message.
