It really depends on the game. Different games have different odds. If you know how to play each game, you will know how to increase your odds of winning. Therefor, you do not need to have a huge bankroll to win big bank. In fact, some of the highest payouts are from small bets on the slots. This thing is usually being said by most gamblers out there i know, having a bigger bankroll would have the higher chance on winning when playing gambling but most of them usually end up lossing all their money and also to those small time gambler does have luck on winning and make their money been multiplied many times. I could somehow tell to myself that no matter how big or small capital do you have it would definitely depend on your luck in able for you to win.
Poker tournaments have made me a decent amount in life, good advice there!First let me say that this was just my method...it's really about finding what works best for you.
I played online some years back and started with putting $50 USD, which I lost, another 50...basically ended up being the 6th deposit of fifty where I hit my stride. I played different level tournaments to start, $5, maybe a 10 or 20 here and there. I also prefer tourney play vs cash games because bankroll became mostly irrelevant after the buy-in. Cash games it's tougher with a low bank roll because people can bully you around a lot more just with their starting cash.
What I ended up doing was playing small $2 buy-in 20 person tourneys (no limit Texas holdem btw.) Players in the lower buy-in levels typically stunk. I maybe had three or four real opponents out of the 20 players. I played to place in the money (top three), frequently winning, simply by sitting back, playing rather tight, and let the bad players just knock themselves out. Once the two 10 person tables combined, I sometimes loosened up a little because blinds were usually worth stealing at this point, but still just holding back waiting for the more than half a table of bad players to again knock themselves out. If a bad player became chip leader, all the better in my opinion. When it's all said and done, the real poker didn't really start till the table was down to five (ideally I'd not become short stacked because of playing rather tight.)
Even though the odds require more than just people left (like stack size, skill, etc.) In my eyes I had a 60% change to place in the money. So all I tried to do was keep enough bank roll for 25 $2-20 person tourneys. After a month or so I'd built up enough to still have a couple hundred in my acct after cashing out my initial $300 investment. I saw this that the worst that could happen was I lost someone else's shirt.
Whatever you play, it's best to be comfortable seeing the money as gone. Every time I enter a game with the feeling that I HAD to win...I would play poorly, push hard when I knew better...it never worked out well. In my opinion, the best thing with regards to bank roll is find a game where you don't feel like you're getting pressured out of making good decisions just because they have more money (cash games specifically) and be able to be comfortable playing and making the best decisions possible. Never go in feeling you HAVE to win.
It's a fun way to spend a nightThank you!
I almost always down for poker. It's something I really miss.
I did get to play on some tables in YRgrid a friend setup..took micro btc payments. I wasn't my usual setup but it worked, and fell into it pretty quick.
I don't know if there is a tourney at games.bitcoin.com yet..just saw the video poker and I'm pretty new around here, but if not, def would be a good idea!
