Re: I'm Roger Ver, the first Bitcoin angel investor, ask me anything!

Hi Roger, I am a novice at Bitcoin however, my expertise has been in humanitarian aidwork in various conflict zones. One of our major requirements for the programs I managed was to distribute cash to vendors or beneficiaries in some off-the road places. Getting funds into these places has seen me carrying bags of cash across hundreds of terrorist filled miles. The advent of bitcoin offers a fabulous opportunity for aid agencies to get funds to supply vendors in places like Afghanistan or any other conflict zone quickly. One way a component of the UN is currently dealing with is to give beneficiaries a code and password so that they can go to the vendor to get their supplies and by entering their details, the crypto funds are transferred in small bits to the vendor without the beneficiary having to get it first. What I interested in getting developed, is an extension to the normal trading of coins that might allow aid agencies to transfer funds in this way. Do you know of any application that can be adapted and might suit this. If it doesn't exist and nothing I can find suggests it does, can you offer suggestions on how I might be able to go about getting it going? I have an idea how it should or could operate but I lack the computing skill to make it happen. I guess there are people out there who could though.

Hi Roger,
Thanks for all your help. What needs to happen for Bitcoin "cash" to be seen as the original Bitcoin again. Also, if someone could come up with new technology to mine Bitcoin faster and with less power would it tip the scales in your favor? I'm asking for a friend...

Hi Roger i'm a very newbie in BTC, then, if you don't mind, i have a question since there's something sound strange.

Let's say i buy the best miner (actually i think it has 14th/s hash) at the price of 1500usd plus ship, other parts, etc...let's say i pay it 4000$.
Then i see in many websites, with such investment, i can get up to 700$/month. It's around 200% return annual.
The question is: why invest in industrial machines, restaurants, homes for rent, and any other activity, once you can buy (with the same amount) 100 miners and earn milions in few years?

It's strange for me...can you illustrate me if is there any error?

Just saw your win against john 'porno" cuckvalho... sent to me by Jeff Berwick. Looking forward to seeing you in Acapulco so that i can tell you in person that you have the respect and love from the same like minded community that you helped create.
A few things to ask you:
1) Please don't let these bozo's break your spirit.
2) Never put up with that many insults before ending a discussion
3) And if some bongo that opperates out of his mom basement, manages to insult you that many times....never ever ever change what your last statement was!
You have a lot of support for what you are have done and now what you are doing. Please do not stop fighting! Keep your head up we love you.

Any chance you will ever give a talk in Winnipeg, Canada? Tons of interest but i can't keep up with the amount of people that ask me to help them get into the space, most of which have seen your videos and are trying to embrace the space for the right reasons.

Hello Roger,

I have a graph showing Bitcoin flashing up to $50,000 TODAY ( 29th November 2017) and another with it jiggery pockering up to a peak of $13,000 over the next few weeks, before sliding back again and then advancing again.

Which do you think is more likely mate ?

Hey Roger,

I've watched several of your interviews and I have to say the eXotica dude was being a D-Bag just to be a D-Bag. He was definitely attacking you probably to try to create a buzz so that he could garner views. I can see from the interviews that you are very passionate about the project. I also agree with you, that if the Bitcoin Core developers are purposely keeping the fees high, they are destroying one of the best use case perks that BTC used to have. When I would talk to people about BTC in 2012-2013, I would tout the low fee aspect as one of the huge bonuses. That has been taken away from my elevator speech to get people excited about Crypto. Now I have to put a caveat in every time I talk about BTC about the fee and slow network issues. I also am telling people to use LTC or BCH if they want to move coins around.

Because of the interview, I came up with some questions that might be more pertinent than anything that guy asked.

To frame my questions, there is a decent Wiki page that talks about the scaling issue: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Scalability

I believe we are of the same mindset that we want crypto to be the way the world transacts business.

If the Wiki page, though outdated, is somewhat correct, then the Blocksize argument becomes irrelevant. It is a nice quick fix, however, we bump into a limit pretty quick as adoption increases.

1. Do you agree that any scalability fix applies to both Bitcoin/Bitcoin Cash?
2. Does any scalability fix address the issue of high fees as the blocks fill?
3. Do you have a different take on the Blocksize argument?

Full disclosure, I don't do anything in Bitcoin anymore because of the fees, including buying BTC from Coinbase. I am doing the same as you, liquidating BTC so that I can use other coins that have cheap transaction fees.

Thanks for your time,
zkraken

Hi Roger,

I watched your interview with Dave Rubin and took your advice and go the Bitcoin.com wallet.

However when I recently sent £1000 worth of bitcoin to my wallet from coinfloor.com i didnt receive anything in my wallet.

Furthermore there is a very non linear contact service to Bitcoin.com. I should also mention that I was using coinbase until you mentioned the
access is limited ion regards to bitcoin cash. You seemed very sincere in your interview, insisitng that although it seems complicated its very easy to get Bitcoin.

Well it doesn't seem so simple now and there is zero help out there, unlike a fricking bank which I would usually be able to call when a transaction doesnt go through. So who do I call now?

Hello,
Can you help me?? This all began on 8 November 2017 when I received 0.04599387 bitcoin from Planet 7 Casino. This was my first time ever dealing with Bitcoin or bitcoin wallet. I googled and found a "customer service number", 844-882-8127. I spoke to Rep Auther he sent my Bitcoin to the address of 3BB7CLFwuAhKuYJBCqej2vYTPLMKFo6gm2. Yesterday I spoke to Michael and he put me on hold to speak to a Manager as that was not the correct address for the bitcoin to be sent to. The correct address is, d7c10214-0b54-4b3b-9616-fcd490a8295e. I keep getting promises of calling me back and no one ever calls, Michael promised he would call and so did Auther. can someone straighten this out so I can get this transferred to Coinbase for withdrawal? I can provide you with all the addresses if you need them. Thanks, Carl

Hey Roger,
Much respect to those with the for-site on the cryptocurrency play.
While there appears to be an accumulation of new wealth and questions regarding the ultimate future of the currency,
Wouldn't it be wise to diversify the value into tangible holdings as well as crypto-assets?
Best

Hi Roger

I and other former Uber and Addison Lee drivers are building an ICO for Blockchain Cabs and the business will be owned by the customers, drivers, developers etc.

The business will operate in London and provide thousands of rides per day similar to Uber but with no one person in control, no shareholders, no board of directors just a committee of former Uber, Addison Lee drivers, advisors, programmers who contribute to the development of the project.

What would you advise to use to build the Blockchain: Bitcoin programming or Ethereum using Solidity etc.

What would you reward the drivers, customers etc with: Bitcoin, Eth, or the new Steem Smart Media Token out early 2018 (seems easy to do looking at their site).

What programming would you use to develop the app/software that goes in the mobile phone that gives client option to pay driver directly in Bitcoin, Eth , Steem or cash. order the car, see car arriving, and reward client for referring friends to join as client of Blockchain Cabs?

Executivecarsonline.com is the draft website, the ICO website is being built. :)

Thanks

One thing that blockchains and cryptos ought to seriously consider doing is to invest a % of windfall profits to lobby governments, congressmen, global authorities. etc.

A positive way to get a voice within the central banks and government officials to counterforce the existing lobby of the status quo to influence and get
voice within the system to implement constructive changes counter balance the existing failed fiat system that exists. Another way to convince the status quo that decentralized, peer to peer system if properly implemented with the support of governments and central banks could be in the long rum beneficial to society. Unfortunately, politics and our politicians are dependent on the interests of the status quo to get elected and move their agendas which are being manipulated and continue to fail. Therefore, the Santoshi revolution should go beyond selling bitcoins and also educate governments and spend a share of the profits to lobby for change and not wait for elected government officials voicing the status quo to implement restrictions, sanctions and hurdles for bitcoin to stumble.

May be consider creating an ICO to create this lobby force with the assistance of attorneys and experts to educate and lobby for positive changes to the World.

Hi Roger,

I would like your opinion on a Crypto Coin startup to teach people to use the crypto of their choice as a hedge to a downturn of a real estate purchase. With interest rates at historic lows, the real estate market should be so hot the shingles should be melting off the roofs - but they aren't. And there are rumblings of interest rate hikes that could slam the market down. I've got a background in real estate and 6 years experience with Bitcoin.

I would use this system myself if I were to buy into this market as it would enable me to keep my crypto and not sell it (as I consider it a better asset than real estate). The way it works is that I would need to find a seller willing to let me assume their existing mortgage. They would be taking a number of risks in doing that so I would use my Bitcoin, deposit it into a multi-sig, and offer them a stake in the Bitcoin as security.

If the system were to become widely adopted it would n0ot only boost demand for Bitcoin but it would also eliminate the bank and probably the realtor as well. Buyers would be buying anywhere from 5-20% of the purchase price worth of Bitcoin. Those cryptocurrencies used in this manner would be tied up for probably a long time.

You can get more details at a website I threw up to explore the idea at Bitcoinrealestatehedge.co. I'm looking for ideas on the best way to market it. My initial thought is to put on learning seminars where we would teach Bitcoin, how to purchase a home by assuming an existing mortgage, and how to use crypto to hedge the deal. Such a seminar would have a broad appeal for those that want to know about Bitcoin as well as those that want to learn about real estate.

Thank you!

Hi kumardialated,

The easiest way to do this would be to download a wallet client for Bitcoin that would allow you import your private key, via that wallet you should be able to import your private key and collect the BTC you sent.

Have a google for Bitcoin wallets that allow you to import your private key.
If I helped you in any way don't hesitate to give me a thumbs up on my post.

Hello Mr. Ver. My name is Ken Flucas. I am very interested in investing in Bitcoin. The more research I do on it the more confused I become & the more questions I have. It would help me to better understand if I could get simple, straight forward, honest, no beating around the bush answers to a few questions. At this point, what i need to know is, how does Bitcoin obtain value? What causes that value to fluctuate? How to buy Bitcoin as an investor? How much does Bitcoin cost to invest? What is the minimum amount required to invest? How do i monitor my investment? How does my investment grow to become profitable? How do i turn my Bitcoin profits into cash in my hand or bank account?
