I'm Ronny Boesing, CEO and founder of Bitcoin exchange CCEDK, The DEX OpenLedger and revenue generated token OBITS AMA

Sat Jan 09, 2016 6:45 pm

As some may have noticed CCEDK has been in the news a lot lately, well if you have not noticed pleased do have a look below to have some input from below mentioned articles.

First with the launch October 13th 2015 of the de facto BitShares 2.0 platform OpenLedger - Smart Trading Decentralized, and after this especially with the launch of OBITS in November and how it is different from other cryptotokens, being the first revenue generated token based on a decentralized fintech exchange platform like OpenLedger.

Earlier in the year we had introduced the Bitcoin DebitCard NanoCard and the instant order obtion of bitcoin to and from various fiat currencies on the base of a bitcoin pool with a fixed commission of 2-3% rather than being based on the depth of market orders.

CCEDK is initially a bitcoin exchange and the only one of its kind in Denmark, registered in March 2014 and with launch in May same year. CCEDK has later turned into a regular cryptocurrency exchange offering 14 different currencies in more than 50 trading pairs allowing anonymous trading and accepting fiat deposits and withdrawals in both USD, EUR and CNY as well, provided each user has undergone a prior validation according to company compliance and KYC procedures.

Prior to CCEDK, I was working in Sales Executive and General Manager positions within the music industry for more than 25 years. Internet has now destroyed its music publishing business, but brought into my life a constant striving for research and development. I consider myself a savvy internet marketeer and a financial all-round connoisseur as well, and always try my best not forgetting to take some time off to spend some quality time with my family!

I am happy to be here. Feel free to ask me any questions about myself or CCEDK, OpenLedger and OBITS.

Ask me anything! AMA

Thanks for doing the AMA. Thanks my pleasure ssorry for the slight delay, I was called to dinner, and you cant say no to your wife, can you?

- Can you tell bit about your early days. What were/is your biggest challenges and what advice would you give for upcoming bitcoin startups .

Since I started basically from scratch in terms of crypto knowledge it has since day one been a constant chase for knowledge and getting bestpossible understanding of it all, when all came down to final decisions however, it has always been a question of the communities backing a currency that made my final choice or decisions.

- What has to change to improve your conditions and the conditions for future bitcoin startups that deal with fiat money.

Hmm, well the fact that you have never gotten a sure solution when it comes to bank, as your bank connection may receive pressure overnight and therefore have to ask you to find another partner, so bascally I feel that a general acceptance of crypto and bitcoin is a here to stay point of view fromk bankers could be a start, and the constant threats of fraud making it a must to have best possible validation procedures is another point. We all want the good stuff from everywhere, and right now we are trying to create a decentralized platform with a fiat gateway. Unique in so many ways, it will however only succeed with people accepting that validation is a must to insure that only people delaing witht their "own" money so to speak are allowed to participate.

- How would you describe the situation in Denmark in regards to Bitcoin usage, adoption and sentiment? Do you see something unique or same patterns in other countries?

I see Denmark is still unique in all the crypto legal framework and it does allow anyone involved in Denmark to have a wider flexibility, but we are all here brought up with the terms of being responsible for what we do and live for, and this is the same here. Very open, but knowing nothing stays the same for good, you try to prepare yourself best way possible.

- What are you doing to support the Danish bitcoin scene?

I dont have much time in general but whenever I am asked I am there to asist, and last year in June I was attending the Danish Blockchain and Bitcoin conference among others: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/ccedk-bi ... uthor-card

- Do you work with your Danish colleagues like Chainalysis , Coinify?

No, I dont, but I met for instance Coinify at the aboeve mentioned conference.

- How is your debit card going?

Our debitcard NanoCard is finally seeing the light in terms of being activated on CCEDK, and hopefully fully done coming week. Once activation is available on CCEDK we will start working on offering this card with the support o currencies like NubIts, BTS and OBITS a well, and eventually the coming fiat pegged asset like OPEN.USD, OPEN.EUR, OPEN.CNY etc.

Hello Ronny

Will 2016 be the year of Bitcoin ?

The Greek crisis turned many Greeks in Bitcoin usage, several said Bitcoin can help Greece. What is your opinion about this?

There were times when some begged for a Grexit believing that this will help in increasing the price of bitcoin

What your opinion about block size increase ??

Will 2016 be the year of Bitcoin ?

I think based on what we have seen already, bitcoin is moving forward.

With information I have which I cannot share unfortunately, it only confirms this. What I am referring to will most probably be clear within the next four months though. All in all it seems bitcoin is slowly moving forward and up, but recent year more or less has given us lessons in taking nothing for certain but looking forward in the anticipation that it will eventually increase

The Greek crisis turned many Greeks in Bitcoin usage, several said Bitcoin can help Greece. What is your opinion about this?

I dont think the Greek situation is much different from any of the other southern european countries like Portugal, Spain and Italy as well, but in general it seems countries all over are increasing in use, just look at Japan the other day where three bitcoinbased companies listed on japanese stock exchange increased by some 25%, so it looks like a lot of positivity allover.

There were times when some begged for a Grexit believing that this will help in increasing the price of bitcoin

What your opinion about block size increase ??

Sorry, have not had a chance to think much about it.

What's your most favorite crypto currency?

My favourite crypto currency has to be Bitshares with the amount of work I am doing where this is involved including OpenLedger, as well as the traders selling and buying on CCEDK, then NuBits the fiat pegged currency we added to exchange back in September 2014, third Bitcoin, based on the use of our instant order feature and bitcoin pool giving some sparks from time to time, fourth FIMK for the constant interest in trading back and forth even though the value is low OUPS, I almost forgot our very own OBITS, ofcourse it has top priority, but so new that it is still everywhere on my mind and not just one place like the other ones, so perhaps that's why I forgot at first, heh.

And what's the most traded on your exchange?

Most traded is in general the above mentioned currencies changing the top from day to day, so BitShares, Bitcoin and NuBits as well as our own currency OBITS based on the generated revenue from OpenLedger.

Hi Ronny and thanks for being here!

I was wondering if you could tell us more on the OBITS buy backs.
--How often are the buy backs?
--Are the profits used to buy back OBITS from both OpenLedger and CCEDK?
--What happens to the OBITS that are bought back?
--How long does a buy back period last?
--What happens to the OBITS that are not bought back?

Can you discussant plans or projects for Openledger, Bitshares, and/or Qora for the first quarter of 2016?

Is there a guide or tutorial on how I can truly set this up as my own bank with shared access to family members in other countries?

Sorry for so many questions everyone and, thank you for your time Ronny!

I was wondering if you could tell us more on the OBITS buy backs.
--How often are the buy backs?

First buyback will take place on February 2nd where February 1st ie meant for users to place their sell orders if they wish to to do.

--Are the profits used to buy back OBITS from both OpenLedger and CCEDK?

Profits used to buy back OBITS are profits generated on the platform OpenLedger. At the moment it means all fees mentioned as basic fees(minus 20% returned to bts network for costant improvement and development of platform) if you have a look at following link: http://cryptofresh.com/fees

It also means 50% of the 0,2% trading commission on transactions with any of the OPEN assets like OPENBTC, OPENLTC, OPENDASH, OPENNBT, OPENNSR, OPENPPC, OPENMUSE. On OBITS itself there is a trading commission of 0,3% which is added in full to the profits used for buyback.

Coming week we will introduce fiat gateway on the base of OPEN.USD, OPEN.EUR and OPEN.CNY, and trading commission here will be 0,2% on each transaction and will go 100% to profits to be used for buyback. Same goes for any deposit and withdrawal fees in connection with this fiat gateway. After validation with your OpenLedger account as destination, every deposit user will make will be added directly to account minus any fees involved. No deposit, then instant transaction, then transfer of asset to account. It is done in one move from fiat to asset by CCEDK as the issuer of these fiat pegged assets.

--What happens to the OBITS that are bought back?

OBITS bought back are burned, and therefore removed from total supply available. It means basically that as supply is reduced, unit price will increase, and it will be more obvious the more buybacks are performed

--How long does a buy back period last?

The buyback period lasts one day per month every second day of the month. Any generated profits not sold that day, will be added to next months buyback instead, and soforth.

OBITS buy-back
OBITS will be bought back at market price using 100% of fees generated from the OpenLedger Exchange Network. A list of applicable fees are given elsewhere, with more information to be added in due course.

Example #1. Alice places a sell order for 1 OBITS at 30 BTS. Her sell order is the cheapest on buy-back day, so CCEDK will buy Alice’s 1 OBITS for 30 BTS on the base of obtained profits. Furthermore, any OBITS tokens bought in this way using OpenLedger profits will be burned (destroyed), thereby increasing the price of remaining OBITS tokens.

Example #2. Bob has bought 100 OBITS for 15 BTS/OBITS (total 1,500 BTS). He decides to sell 10% of his holdings on buy-back day at the price of 150 BTS/OBITS (total 1,500 BTS). According to the given rules, all orders are bought back on the basis of generated profits. In this example, if Bob’s sell order is met, he stands to keep 90% of his initial OBITS holdings, fully paying for the original cost of the remaining tokens.

--What happens to the OBITS that are not bought back?

I asume you are speaking about any profits not spent due to no sell orders, and this is answered above.

Can you discussant plans or projects for Openledger, Bitshares, and/or Qora for the first quarter of 2016?

As mentioned in previous answer we expect the fiat gateway to be implemented by the end of coming week
Sharedrop on OBITS holders with OPENBTC using the new Sharebits app(a part of the the future profits from this app will also enter o the plenty of profits all making the foundation of the value of OBITS) will take place on January 16th (this is just a special gesture as the end to our special NEW YEARS offer - 5000 OBITS order receive and extra 500 OBITS as bonus running from january 5th untill January 15th, and only possible directly on OBITS site http://obits.io/#buy and does not matter whether in fiat or crypto.
Ripple, Paypal and Nanocard gateways on Openledger are expected in February
Special article on Forbes on the base of Buyback of OBITS, our Sharebits.io app and the features mentioned to come in February is expecetd to b published either saturday or sunday last days of January.
I really wish people would focus more on Qora the currency I would call the currency of Freedom of Speech, I have a feeling it will come though

.
Is there a guide or tutorial on how I can truly set this up as my own bank with shared access to family members in other countries?

I dont see something like this just yet, I do however have a plan of introducing 10 videos in coming 6 months of which 5 are instructional, 4 are use cases like the one video you see here as signature, and finally one big video for branding purposes planned for release end of March. The other ones will all somehow give you input to best way for users worldwide to benefit in full when using OpenLedger. I am also hoping that some users will participate in making special contributions with seminars etc. bringing the news out there.

That part is the reason why I created the special OBITS Bloggers Club 500, with the intent eventually to have some 500 media specialists all loving to share with the rest of the world what goes on with OpenLedger, CCEDK and OBITS on a weekly basis.

Hello

my usual question:

I was re-reading Antifragile by iconoclast thinker Nassim Taleb recently. He writes
"Never ask anyone for their opinion [...] Just ask them what they have -or don't have- in their portfolio"
I have come to think it's a very relevant question and you can better weight people's opinions having an idea of how many Bitcoins they hold (or do not hold.) So Instead of asking their opinion on bitcoin, I'm now asking every participants the same question:

- Do you mind to tell us which percentage of your personal net worth and/or liquid assets you hold in Bitcoins ?

Hi,

It looks really cool but I tried to use this openledger thing and sorry to say but it is far too complicated for me.

Do you have some sort of good tutorial on how to use this technolgy because it looks promising?

The thing with a lot of these new technologies in my opinion is that it's difficult for a simple person (like me) to understand what exactly is going on.

I have this magic box that does all kinds of stuff but I don't really know what's going on inside this box. It's called a computer. Why is it so difficult to show what's going on in the inside? My conceptual model of this program doesn't match the workings I guess.

I would like to use this but today when I tried to log in on openledger it was asking for a import of a backup which I should have. But I never noticed I had to make one. So now this account must be lost I think.

Any suggestion for this noob?

OpenLedger tries to expose as much features to the end user as possible.
This may be overwhelming at times and we are looking into simplifying
the interface.

Do you have some sort of good tutorial on how to use this technolgy
because it looks promising?

We are currently in the making of some video tutorials and further
documention but in the end, it should have the "look&feel" of a
traditional/centralized exchange.

The thing with a lot of these new technologies in my opinion is that
it's difficult for a simple person (like me) to understand what exactly
is going on.

We fully understand that and see how that can be frustrating at times.
Let us work on a simpler interface for non-pro-traders.

Once your account has been created, there should have been(there is) a warning in
the footer asking you to make a backup right away. However, we are
currently working on a server-hosted version so that Openledger keeps a
copy of an encrypted wallet only for you to access via passphrase.

Hi Ronny,

Thanks for your answers and quick reply.

I made a new account just now and saved the backup ofcourse. Because now I knew about it and saw it directly so maybe I wasn't really paying attention.
The interface is real need and cool but maybe a bit overwhelming.

Maybe the attention notice can have somewhat stronger fonts and maybe somewhat more red?

Or if I may give a little advice that maybe it's a good idea to make a Javascript alert box when closing the openledger webpage saying "attention you should make a backup!" or something like that.

The questionmarks on the https://bitshares.openledger.info are a good thing, pity they are not all working but more questionmarks I can only welcome.

To put things about digital money and so a bit in perpective if I may, your link:

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/ccedk-bi ... uthor-card

Starts of with: "Seamless integration of the traditional banking system and cryptocurrency protocols offers the potential to open digital money up to mainstream usage and acceptance."

In my opinion most of the time, new technologies and implimentations of it are difficult to understand for most people and opening it up to the "meanstream" is where the challenge is at. When a program has a clear understanding of the interface and also a good look and feel or maybe even some sort of gameplay makes better accessible to the crowd, I think.

Have you Hearn oh eh heard about Neucoin and what do you think of it?

Now that the big news was out about Mike Hearn:
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/mike-he ... he-future/

This made an impact on the market.

What do you think about this?

Still I am very excited with this openledger thing and I will dive a little bit deeper into it.

I must say I'm enthusiastic about cryptocurrencies, tech and interested in a lot of things, sometimes it is all what overwhelming and I'm somewhat struggeling to find my place in all this. There is a lot going on and this openledger looks real promising.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Sir, I need your advise about an incident, I purchased yesterday and transaction rejected by simplex, claiming that bitcoin didnt approve because the price changed

To the far of my knowledge this is against the rules and policies where the price should beblocked - or else why would I ever deal with bitcoin if they approve what they want and reject what they want!?
