Sent bch to btc

Fri May 04, 2018 11:04 pm

I was doing a test send to my ledger nano s btc wallet and sent about $150 of bch to it by accident. The wallet currently has bitcoin in it now. Anything I can do?

on that note is is kind of ridiculous that both bch and btc have wallets where this can happen. It should not be possible to do so.

A common occurrence, still cannot say I'm personally familiar with it. That said, take a look at the following sources, it seems recovering your coins will depend on whether the btc receiving address was a legacy or segwit address (let's hope it was the former).

https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en- ... C-address-

https://www.coinvasion.com/blog-eng/201 ... tc-address

Hope this helps

Well it appears they are "stuck" as I am using segwit. This is from their support.

"If you sent BCH to a BTC Legacy address

You will find them in your BCH main account, if you sent your BCH to a Bitcoin Legacy address.

If you sent BCH to a BTC Segwit address

Your BCH are stuck as Bitcoin Cash doesn't support Segwit."

BTC.com (unrelated to us here at Bitcoin.com) apparently offer a paid service to recover BCH sent to Segwit addresses, charging 10% of the amout:

https://bch.btc.com/docs/help/bch_segwit_recovery

Please note that we cannot vouch for any service not provided by Bitcoin.com, although BTC.com have been around for a very long time in the crypto space and seem reputable. Please also note that entering your mnemonic from your hardware wallet into a wallet on your computer potentially exposes it, so you should also strongly consider sending all funds from all wallets on your Nano S to intermediary wallets, then setting your Ledger Nano S up with a completely new seed.

Just to follow up. I tried your suggestion and it worked like a charm. I filled out the form this morning and a few minutes ago (about 4 hours later) I got notified of a deposit of 0.09 bch ($151.84 US) to my wallet. Thanks!
